Making Dribbling Fun Again in 2K18
Lilke in NBA 2K16.
I decided to throw 2K16 on today and play some scrimmage with Kyrie... https://streamable.com/dyq6f Man I had so much fun stringing together combinations...using my imagination thinking of ways to fake the HOF CPU out....even though I was a bit rusty. Now some like NBA 2K16, some dont....but I think we can all admit the above isnt possible in NBA 2K17, even against a defender like Monta Ellis. The CPU in the video is not psychic, it has no idea where I am going...it stumbles, plants the wrong way, and pays for it.. Im not asking for things like the above to happen all game, every trip down court at all....but we cant have another year of these defenders glued to ball handlers...for me, it was one of the more frustrating aspects of 2K17. |

Back when if you had a good dribbler, you could get to the rim without getting sucked into a post up animation
Sigh. |

Yep, the revamped dribble system was one of the biggest factors of me trading 2k17 back in after just a week. I absolutely hated it. I loved the way dribbling was performed in 2k16 - the copious amounts of sig dribble animations we had at our disposal was AMAZING, canned or not.

Even sliders couldn't fix dribbling in 2k17. I'm still trying though..

I mean, it's fun to me now. Nobody can really guard me due to skill gaps. I have a few gripes but the level of control 2K gives the user is pretty much unprecedented if I'm being honest. I played the Live demo and gained a new appreciation for 2K's system. Edit - Just watched your streamable, all of that is more than possible lol.

Definitely agree with your last point though... |
Re: Making Dribbling Fun Again in 2K18
I prefer 2k17s right stick dribbles to 2k16s. I love that I can create on the fly, my issue is that certain behind the backs, spins and crossovers are muted at close range making countering more difficult.
The real issue is the stoic defenders.... they stare into your soul and read the move you're going to make and react instead of reading and reacting. Also I miss the 2k11 days when you could do a basic moving crossover with the left stick. Going 45 degrees after a screen is near impossible now and makes maneuvering in tight places difficult. |
Re: Making Dribbling Fun Again in 2K18
If they called blocking fouls and stopped the defenders from morphing back into a guarding position after the offensive player has them beat we would be half way home.
