What the hell with this Miami Heat weekly challenge?

This is the weekly challenge "Heat Index" for the first week, it's on all-star, you're down 8 points to begin the second half and they're all but unbeatable.

My frontcourt has DeMarcus Cousins & Draymond Green and between the two of them, Whiteside beasts all over them for rebounds, tip-dunks, putbacks, you name it. They convert at least 5 and-1's a game and are money from mid-range/3 pt even with a hand in their face, doesn't matter who's shooting.

On the other end, I can't make a layup or a free-throw to save my ***, and I wouldn't dare attempt a 3 pointer unless I wanna just give the ball back to them. I'm at a real loss here guys, what did you all do to beat this challenge?

Just for reference, my team is ...

    C: Cousins
    PF: D. Green
    SF: Me7o
    SG: Beal
    PG: Irving

What really bothers me is my inability to hit jumpers, between Melo, Beal & Irving, nobody is below an "A" in the mid-range and I can't make anything unless it's a damn dunk, and even then, Whiteside might f'n block it!

Someone help before I throw my PS4 out the damn window, lmao.

I feel your pain. They were no easier in Domination, and neither have any of the other games been. I've been in death struggles, even losing 2-3 times per try. I'm starting to figure some things out, so here are my best tips for the Heat:

    - Control your 4 and set your defense to shrink the floor
    - Whichever side of the floor the ball is on, control the opposite big
    - Bring the opposite big in and out of the lane for help. They like to run ball screens, and the on-ball defense is going to collapse.
    - Try to be there waiting with hands up with whichever big was weak side
    - Do not jump; push the right stick toward the shooter and get ready to rebound
    - On offense, don't hold turbo on layups.
    - Don't hold the analog stick for layups all the way. When the player is about in mid-flight, release right before the vibration. This helps to pick up more fouls
    - Post moves for me have been absolute waste of time. YMMV

    I am running:
    Kyrie
    Middleton
    Barnes
    Saric
    Turner

with Wade and a bunch of silvers on the bench.

I would love other people's feedback. I know I'm not good enough, but this is the toughest domination has ever been and I struggle to think how I'm going to be able to beat some of the better teams without dropping serious MT on sapphires +.

    Hope this helps.

This right here is why I love this community. Fantastic advice man! I had to take a break because I was getting way too frustrated but I'll definitely give this a shot later on. Also, thanks for the help on layups, I don't know why 2K found it necessary to change the way layups are attempted, but I've never missed so many easy layups in my life and it's infuriating. Appreciate the write-up.

Deny ball on Dragic and Waiters.
            Off ball screens on switch
Set Winslow's off ball pressure to leave and double team the ball handler with his man.

Don't know why this challenege was so hard anyway. They caught me off guard the 1st match but then I stomped their face in the rematch with a bit of cheese of course.

Heard alot about Heat, but managed to destroy them from the 1st try.
No problems. Im not a gusu in this game.
But! Can tell you what I did.
              1. 5 out with Wesbrook driving on speedboost - easy points.
              2. Porzi hold Whiteside to 4 points total.

Won with a 12 points margin.
AND use your strategy cards THEY HELP!

I tried 4 times over the weekend and failed against the heat. Decided to take a break and focus on finishing Dom last night. Today I went back and smashed out the last 2 challenges. The heat one is hard but it's doable.

Re: What the hell with this Miami Heat weekly challenge?

I can't believe a week one challenge is this difficult. I've tried different sets, lineups, strategies. You would think a week one challenge would be mild and not this tough to plan for. It would be one thing if it was sucking contracts off my Sapphire's, Ruby's and Amy's later in the season. But this is week one and I'm wasting contracts to beat it. I'd grind MyCareer for VC, but I can't without fear of losing my players save info.

Incredibly frustrated by this challenge. I want it to be a challenge, but I'm throwing the entire book at it. I'm resorting to using my Onyx cards because I just want to get past it and never think about it again...Good luck with that BTW.

If this is how the Heat play this season you're looking at a sweep and Whiteside will go down as the unanimous season and finals MVP. Spolstras gonna make Phil look like a D3 coach.

They went full copy and paste from last year challenges, they didn't take into account that it's the beginning of the year and that for most teams, it will be tough to beat a challenge on all-star difficulty right away.

I honestly think that 2k made a mistake and the difficulty for this challenge is set to a higher difficulty than all-star. The Bulls challenge directly after the "Heat Index" challenge is all-star difficulty, and I blew them out from the start. The Heat challenge probably took me at least 8 attempts.

I seriously think something is wrong here. Whiteside eats rebounds and makes fadaway jumpers from near the 3 point line. Dragic cannot be guarded one on one and will get to the rim if you try to stick one person in front of him. Waiters will also kill an individual defender and hit any mid to long range shot as soon as there is a slight opening. This challenge was maddening.

Just tried again, got to within two before Whiteside went extraterrestrial and grabbed FOUR offensive rebounds in a row before getting the and 1 which put them up by 5. Traded buckets down the stretch until Winslow hit a crazy contested jumper that he had no business hitting. You literally have to play perfectly to beat these guys.

No doubt you have to play near perfect. Lots of focus and no wasted possessions. On my 7th try I played off ball defense and just floated around the paint with my center to stop Dragic and Waiters on their drives. This seemed to help a lot. Although using this technique it was hard to keep Whiteside off the boards when Dragic or Waiters missed. I lost in the 3rd overtime, but on my 8th try I won by 5 points using the same technique. Before moving to the off-ball/Center defense strategy, the closest I got to beating them was within 5 points. I really do think the difficulty is bugged considering the Bulls on All-Star are so much easier to play against.

If you're playing mostly Bronze/Silver/Gold, you should still be making enough MT in the game to pay for those contracts. So long as you're buying contracts in the menus, not in the AH. 5 Gold and 8 Bronze riding the pine only costs 144 MT.

Make it 3 Gold, 1 Emerald, and 1 Sapphire, and it's still only 168 MT. You should be able to make 200-300 in this game, pretty easily, even in a losing effort.

This one was a struggle. Also 2nd 76ers schedule challenge against the Grizz took me like 5 tries at least. They start up 4 and get the ball at the start of both quarters and play like fiends.
