The game is absolutely awful. This series is so incredibly stale.

NHL needs a heck of a lot more than this list. 1. Frostbite 2. Actual spatial and positioning logic for AI players (don't drift to the boards if you are on a 2-1 break AI winger)* 3. Improve the awful puck movements where it whips around the boars over and over again to opponent AI. 4. Improve the draft experience with both animations and expanded player list. 5. Improve the horrible audio presentation than doesn't even mention Auston Matthews.

This is my favorite sports game to play online, and I'm not even considering purchasing it after spending time with the 10 hour trial.

As long as EA continues to prioritize things like the HUT cash-cow, nonsensical "Arcade" modes (seriously, just make another game for that audience) and cumbersome Mortal Kombat style deke systems, I'll prioritize keeping my money in my pocket.

I've been coming to this site for about fifteen years, and this is up there with peculiar articles. A "Showtime" feature? Seriously? NHL 2002 did have that, and it was an awful look, and much maligned from devs and players alike.
Also, what you describe about passing is what manual passing is like with the assist slider turned to 0.*

- Frosbite engine.

- Better presentation. Add SportsNet and Hockey Night in Canada broadcast presentations.

- more goalie animations.

- more stat overlays during game. standings, top scorers, power play and penalty kill stats etc..
