    2017-18 Coaching Carousel

Word on the streets is that Shark Boy got his pink slip today. He's not the first coach to be relieved of duties if those reports are true, but he is the most notable.

This is the place for rumors, conjectures, reports, and official news of hires and fires.

KEEP ALL COACHING NEWS HERE. DO NOT POST COACHING UPDATES IN THE OT OR START A NEW THREAD. Everything will be centralized and updated here.

Now, in tribute of coach Al Goldenteeth, Father of Sharks and Receiver of What Is Deserved, First of his name.

UF coaching search will be interesting. They fired a coach with the 2nd most wins in the SEC in the last 2 years, plus tying Spurrier for wins in 1st 2 years.

Sure he wasn't a great coach and was in over his head, but still that is really high expectations.

Frost will be the hot name, but I'm not sure any top up and coming coach will go there.

Hoping Fisher makes wholesale changes, if not then leaves to somewhere else or take time off to be with his family. Then FSU gets Frost.

There may be another opening in the SEC East before the end of the day.

Because no one else would care to post about these and I sure as hell didn't want to start the thread a month ago when I first found out....

Sean Kugler resigned at UTEP last month.

Tyson Summers out at GA Southern.

And of course Oregon State and Ole Miss have vacancies that we already probably knew about.

I’ve got a feeling Mullen winds up back at Florida.

Florida will get Mullen, pay him stupid money, he will have a couple great seasons, then a bad season, get fired, and make a ton of money on the buyout. Rinse and repeat.

He also had an offense ranked outside the top 100 in the three years he was HC. Not been a fan of the hire since day one, just hoping they don't screw this up again.

Must be a problem with the Florida players because I heard McElwain could win with his dog at QB.

No doubt he shouldn't have been hired, I laughed when they did because I knew they'd be firing him soon. You aren't going to win your conference every year, but he had them in the championship even with the offense.

Coaches like to know they will get their full contract to turn things around. They like realistic expectations. So even with the money UF has, coaches may see it as too big of a risk. You can go somewhere else and not have to deal with those fans.

There is so much truth to this in so many ways it's not even funny and I've been saying it for years. You guys know I'm a fan of 2 teams, UF and MS State. My expectations for both teams are totally different and what defines a successful season for both are totally different. Also the same reason I have said for years now after OHio State, Penn State...etc that Dan Mullen isn't going anywhere. He's the Bear Bryant of Starkville and will remain so as long as he stays there. He's not a dummy.

Butch Jones is out. Brady Hoke to serve as interim for the final two games.

Darn, I wanted LSU to be the ones to finish him off.

Should have said "reluctantly serve as interim"
