FIFA 18 - Three Things FIFA 18 Can Do to Improve the Rest of the Season

Between the constant tweaks from gameplay patches to stale and repetitive offline modes, FIFA 18 has...

AMEN on the World Cup thing. It's always baffled me how they don't  include all the national teams each year despite the fact they hold the FIFA license.

Fix while pressing L1 or the analog to change players to actually go to the best possible player on defense to defend the attack. Too many times it gets it wrong. The pace should be slower also

I know it's a petty gripe, but it kills me how they've removed previously implemented features like a full scrimmage mode and the 'Match Day' option for Play Now.  I loved both of those features and I still can't think of a single reason why they would ever have removed either of them.

Dude they aren't going to incorporate a WC mode (and I agree with you that they should) because they're going to come out with a Road to the WC game in a few months.

The World Cup and lack of international teams is already mentioned in the OP. Other than that my biggest gripe is the lack of assistance the game provides to help users learn "skill" moves. Practice Mode is well nigh useless thanks to the ridiculous camera angle which hardly anyone uses and can't be changed. That leaves you trying to figure out dribbling/skills move in "skills challenges" mode but it's cumbersome and time consuming.

I would prefer if FIFA has a tutorial mode where you select a move you want to learn from a drop-down box or a list and the game will walk you through it and explain how & when to pull it off with a defender around to make it realistic, i.e. the game can show pop-ups when to press a button or move RS/LS in a certain direction at what time so you can learn it easily rather than trying to learn it the hard way which takes forever. Not many people have that much time at their disposal where they can spend hours trying to learn skill moves/dribbling skills. There are lot of folks like me who have maybe a couple of hours to spend every week but would like to improve and pull off moves a la Ronaldo or Messi but at the moment it takes a lot of investment in time which again turns off a lot of casual gamers away.

Will be interesting to see if Manchester City's dominance of the English Premier League is accurately reflected in any new FIFA 18 patches, most of my playthroughs have Chelsea & Man Utd far above the rest in terms of points, Last time i played i saw Man City end in 5th!! The game lacks a lot of the realism if the big teams arent as strong as they should be.

I don't think they will ever include a FIFA World Cup mode in the base game, maybe as a DLC.. this is EA we're talking about.

So you stopped reading when they started criticising FIFA? The full sentence is "found it's way to the shelf" as in people aren't playing it...

                ah well.

Totally agree. I’ve said this in other threads too. Been a pain in the a$$ every year constantly switching to a player further away and not logical at all. Really needs to be fixed.

I would love less gameplay patches unless they are geared for offline players. I know that complaining about gameplay patches in FIFA is equivalent to complaining you get wet in a swimming pool, but still...I agree with KG, tone it down on the patches.

With that said, we are at the mercy of online/FUT as a gaming industry. The offline player is still there, but let's face it, it's an afterthought. The content creators that EA hire (look on their career pages) are geared to talk about the game, and 99% of them go over FUT. With this kind of wave, the offline player is left to fend for themselves (via sliders, difficulty, game speed, etc).

I think a little bit of "love" to the offline issues would make a huge difference.

If they don't make a full World Cup game with all the Russian stadiums and every FIFA team in the the world, not just a 32 team add on, then I am done with EA for all time. WC 2010 was the reason I got back into this game, but everything has been downhill for the last six years or so. FIFA and EA are barely treading water in my book, I hate FUT and I don't play online, and that's all they care about.

In my current manager career I'm managing the Wales national team and am playing the World Cup right now, and yeah, it is incredibly lifeless. I'm not asking for EA to go all out like including all the Russian stadiums, but they definitely could have did more so it doesn't feel like a bunch of international friendlies.

It is very underwhelming right now

I agree with ggsimmonds. It's underwhelming right now. They need to spice it up a bit. They should also add the Euro qualifications and Euro cup in career mode. Have it rotate and come up every 2 seasons. How cool would that be!

Yea as a whole this franchise has really gone down hill for the past few years. The Frostbite switch has made the game's progression a lot slower, with lots of focus on FUT and The Journey. No attention to Career Mode in god knows how long. Didnt buy FIFA 18 because of that reason: Still outdate Career Mode, and lack of facial scans.
I hope they make the WC a big deal when it comes to that time of the year. Hopefully a whole new mode within the game like they did with the Euro 2012 (but that sucked so hopefully this would be better). They just cant have it centered around FUT, then MAYBE ill consider purchasing it when that comes out. Till then, nothing is persuading me to buy this year's iteration
