A simple truth of my Career mode from 4 years ago compared to now. Need your input...

This is not to bash 2k18. I’m still loving the game on the court. But I wanted to point something out . First of all I never played my career before. For kicks , I broke out 2k14 on the Xbox 360. Probably my favorite 2K ever and I started my career. I wanted to just point this out. On my career mode I was able to put in about 10 hours of grind and already my player is a 75 overall rating. Is this possible to reach that rating on 2k18 without buying VC? I think I can reach 90 overall for probably less than 15 hours total. Again, I’m just playing the game, no vs., just online and super fun and I’m instantly hooked.

    Few questions,

    1. Is all My Career modes this fun as it was in 14 ? This mode is amazing.
    2. Which 2K had the best My Career?
    3. How long can you reach a reasonable rating for your player in 2k18 without having to spend money ?
    4. What should I expect in other 2K my career modes?

    Peace friends

    3. With CONSTANT playing of 2k18 mycareer it would take you about a week to reach 75. Well over 10 hours. The grind is so real . Feels impossible to level up without buying VC.

The VC issue is THE major issue I have with 2K18. I haven’t brought the game, I barely played 2K17 and I’m like you I played ALOT of 2K14.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this method is going to change.

Okay, thank you. So the grind is more intense for 2k18?
Also which is your favorite MY Career of all time?

There is a method to max your player out instantly on the older 2k's if you're interested.

I think it was put in for testers originally as it only works in an offline career. There's also a method for 2k14 current gen, but nothing after that version.

                  In 2k14, we had:

A rival - the problem with JE is that he wasn't good enough at the start, but would be a 94ovr by the 3rd season, but even then there was a change in relationship as the game went on, till he eventually asked us to team up with him. We had wagers and bets, that although they were repetitive they did add in decisions.

We were given situations to choose from: hold back on the bench (affected team chemistry), whether to pass to the vet (team chemistry), whether to stand up for your teammates on the court (ejection and chemistry), whether to participate in rookie duties (relationships/chemistry).

We had to make a choice after being courted by a different agent which would affect which shoe deals we could get.

15 was also a good career mode - similar on-court decisions/scenarios to choose from, and the 10 day contract was an interesting angle.

But since 15, the mode has gone backwards. 16 was an ambitious effort, but it missed the mark for gamers because we were just watching everything, with cringe-worthy characters (i'm looking at you Vic, and mr freaking and vibing dance). No decisions to be made, no choices offered.

17 was just glitched from the get-go and was never fixed. Remember that finishing with your gf cutscene when he phoned up justice afterwards to say it was done? But which there was absolutely no backstory to how this happened.

18 is really stale as a career mode and alive and well as one long infomercial. I can live with the odd advertisement here and there, but the choices/decisions we get to make in this game are just pointlessly absurd, like when the press lady asks how many phones we have and our options are "how many do I need/something else random". I mean, how did this get in during their storyboard meetings?

Hey guys, I've got a really great idea; let's ask the protagonist how many phones he has, because this is a really crucial part of an NBA career.

Rest of the group: We love it *applause.

2k14 could be cartoony at times, but it provided a good first step in a groundbreaking career mode. Career mode needs to go backwards again, before it can start to move forward.

I dont know. 14 and 15 my career were okay. If you love playing only the computer have at it. The game is meant to last while a currently. Ranking that up fast is not even fun. Definitely could scale vc back next year or start people at 75 because 60 is too awful.

Cut scenes always have been a mixed bag. Does not change my experience. A good one is a nice surprise. 16 set the bar so low with over the top ideas that i don't expect much. The first scene with B Fresh though....was beyond bad. I

my all time favorite 2k mycareer will be 2k11, its simple, i dont really think our characters need a voice or story, we could create our own in our heads. 2k11 mycareer is the only one that i played mutliple seasons i think i played up to like 8 seasons and its also the only game where i became a 99 overall. the d league really helped me in that game, when i got called back up to the nba i was decent.

if only 2k had the press interviews, endorsements and stuff after game the other 2ks had it would be the goat

yea, I forgot which one it was, but in 14 playing jackson on the roof was funny. Dude was so great at being salty. Even his face in game was super salty.

But, in one of those I remember Bron joining my team. Wasn't that written in to the story? Forgot which one it was, but I always kill Bron in career w/ my SF because he's always driving and I am always a defensive player, so I block all of his shots and post him/get him in foul trouble on the other end. I remember doing that, before I knew he was supposed to team up with you (I think he was?), in the last game of the season, just destroying him and the next year he was on my team. haha. I was like o ****.

I didn't know you got to team up with Jackson tho, I didn't get that far in career, I guess. It was mad funny making a 7'3 dude and then Jackson would also be 7'3. A 7'3 350 pound dude shouldn't be so salty.

I disagree with 'leveling up fast isn't fun.' Your dude should get better, but really your levelling up should be getting good at the game, expanding your skillset. It shouldn't be like... you go in doing stuff and as you get better ratings, it starts to work.

2k14 was a really fun career, I thought, and I also had a lot of fun online. I think that was the last 2k I played a lot online.

WTF? I skipped 2k15 and had no idea this was in the game. Who the hell approved this horrible voice acting? I would like to laugh at this, but it's so bad, it actually makes me angry lol. But no, seriously, who ok'd this?
