    KCMO Sports

I figured this would be the best place to add since it was dealing with multiple sports. Feel free to post whenever.

    Hope you all enjoy!

    Background:
This will start in August 2017 (side note: the Expansion news, draft and signings of the new teams will be recaps). It will cover the 5 major sports in Kansas City. The Royals (MLB 2k13), Chiefs (Madden 18), Sporting KC (FIFA 18), NHL Expansion (NHL 18), and NBA Expansion (NBA 2K18). It will feature many updates and will be written with a point of view of an amateur sports blogger called KCMO Sports. The blog will cover all 5 teams just like a newspaper would cover all the teams in the city.

    Expansion in KC:
    August 1, 2017-
Today we look back at the major news over the last 4 months involving the two new expansion teams in KC.

    April 1, 2017
The NHL and NBA have announced that they are expanding. NBA announced that they will add two teams to make a total of 32 teams. One team in the Eastern conference and one in the Western conference. Kansas City won the bid for the Eastern conference. As Seattle won the Western conference bid. Neither team has announced names but we can confirm that KC will play at the Sprint Center. The NHL has also announced expansion for a 32nd team as Kansas City won that too. They will also play at Sprint Center, and the rumors are they may bring back the Scouts name. The team in KC will join Las Vegas as an expansion team this summer. Both will play in the Western conference.

    June 1, 2017
The Hockey team in Kansas City has announced that they will be called the Kansas City Riders. Rumors are floating around that one of their logos they will use is the old Scouts logo. Along with the Riders, the Basketball team has announced that they will be the Kansas City Storm. Both will be announcing their Jersey and Logos on June 19, at an event before the Riders head out for the draft.

    June 19, 2017
Former NHL Defenseman, Chris Chelios, named GM of the Kansas City Riders. And Former Goalie, Martin Brodeur, was named Head Coach. Chelios announced that the Riders will have a "Roughrider" logo with a 2nd of a bandit/outlaw type and the 3rd will be the old Scouts logo as they got approval from the New Jersey Devils to use the logo. The colors will be Red, Blue, White, and Yellow similar to the old Scouts colors. The Storm have announced their GM, Chauncey Billups, who named Jake Thomas the new head coach. Thomas coached at a small college in Michigan before the job. Billups announced the teams logo with feature a thunderstorm as well as have Navy Blue, Gold and White as colors. The home jersey will be Gold while the away will be Navy. Announced that there will be a third jersey but won't be reveled till the draft. The City of Kansas City is excited about its new teams as the Sprint Center was sold out for the event.

          Re: KCMO Sports

          August 1, 2017-
The Chiefs open up the preseason August 11th. With a few training camp practices under way we can see some of the teams focus. The team relied on their top defense last season as their offense had struggled. The coaching staff is looking to improve the wide outs. A big question is how will the teams running game go with Spencer Ware on IR.

          Coaches focus:
WR Jehu Chesson- KC's Wide outs have struggled the past few years. They believe they can develop Chesson to an underrated WR in the league.
QB Patrick Mahomes II- KC invested a lot to pick him in the 1st round. The 21-year old is currently behind Alex Smith on the depth chart as everyone is wondering what will come from this QB situation.
CB Ashton Lampkin- the UDFA rookie is set to be the 5th CB on the Depth chart with Steven Nelson on the IR. With a 6'0" frame KC is hoping he can learn under Marcus Peters who has a similar frame.

          5 things to watch:
QB situation- the Chiefs took Patrick Mahomes II 10th overall in this past draft. They already have a starter in Alex Smith and he has two more years on his contract. We will see how this will play out as it shows that the organization may be moving on from their current QB.
RB Situation- with Spencer Ware out for the year, who will replace him? Will it be rookie Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West, or CJ Spiller that will take control or will they look for outside help.
Defense is solid- the Defense is returning which is huge as they played a major role in the success for the Chiefs last year.
Is Andy Reid the coach to take them to the next level?- the Chiefs are a good team but are they ready to be a great team? This year will prove a lot for the organization.
Early Test- the Chiefs open at New England who was last seen coming back from a 28-3 deficit to win the Super Bowl. Over the offseason the Pats improved by getting Brady more weapons. This game will prove if the Chiefs are real or not.

          Season Predictions:
10-6, The first 9 weeks leading up to the week 10 bye, are alternating home and away each week. With 5 of the 9 games being played on prime time, it shows that the NFL believes the Chiefs are real. Now it's time for KC to embrace the spotlight. The toughest game is the opener at New England. We have the Chiefs going 5-4 that span losing 3 of the 5 road games to New England, Oakland, and Dallas. That would put them at 3-2 on prime time. After the bye week they have 2 away games sandwiching the Bills home game. These three games are all wins for the Chiefs. That puts them at 8-4 going into the last 4 games of the season that feature 3 home games for the Chiefs. This is where the offense struggles and they lose the West, but back into the playoffs as Wild Cards. They lose two division games to the Raiders and Broncos to finish the season 10-6.

          NFL postseason predictions:
          AFC North- Steelers
          AFC East- Patriots
          AFC South- Titans
          AFC West- Raiders
          AFC Wild Card- Chiefs, Jaguars.
          NFC North- Lions
          NFC East- Dallas
          NFC South- Falcons
          NFC West- Seahawks
          NFC Wild Card- Packers, Buccaneers.
          Super Bowl- Dallas vs Raiders
          Raiders Super Bowl champs.

                  Royals At Rays Series:
                  August 1-4, 2017.-
Game 1- Michael Fulmer (KC) vs Chris Archer (TB). The Rays took a 3-0 lead in the 1st and they never looked back. They held on to a 6-2 victory where Dickerson and Longoria both hit their 16th homers of the season. Morrison hit his 11th. Archer won his 9th game of the year. The Royals had Moss hit his 22 home run. Fulmer had 4 strikeouts but lost his 7th game of the year.

Game 2- Danny Duffy (KC) vs Alex Cobb (TB). The Royals offense was rolling in the 4th as they scored all 8 runs that inning. Final was 8-5, Moustakas (12) and Perez (13) hit home runs for the Royals. Minor pitched for 5 strikeouts and his 6th win on the year. Duffy added 4 strikeouts. The Rays used 6 pitchers in this one. They had Souza hit his 11 homer.

Game 3- Chris Young (KC) vs Jake Odorizzi (TB). Rays were up 6-0 before winning 6-4. Duffy (9), Rasmus (16), and Souza (12) all hit home runs for the Rays. Sporting KC vs Atlanta United:

                      August 6, 2017-

Sporting KC is currently tied for 5th in the western conference. Trying to hold onto that last playoff spot. Atlanta comes in with a good record and to win.

Atlanta jumps out to a quick 1-0, 3’ lead on a great cross to Villalba. A turnover by KC in their defensive zone gives Atlanta a 2-0, 13’. Another good cross puts Atlanta up 3-0, 44’. Almiron gets a hat trick in the 58’ off of a great cross. KC adds one late after a corner cross lead to a goal by Blessing in the 89’.

A bad start to the month.

Chiefs Vs 49ers week 1 preseason:

                          August 11, 2017-

Football is back! For the Chiefs it will be an interesting season. Our season Outlook has already been posted and you can see in detail the whole season, so this will just focus on the 49ers game. We get to see Patrick Mahomes II for the first time. Andy Reid said the Alex Smith is QB1 but the team did trade up to get Mahomes. With Spencer Ware already on the IR, how will the Toledo rookie fair in the NFL, or will a veteran like Spiller or West take the job. For the 49ers, we will see Hoyer in a competition with rookie, Beathard. Elvis Dumervil and #3 overall pick Solomon Thomas will run the D-Line. Rookie Linebacker, Reuben Foster fell to the 49ers where many thought he was a top 10 talent. They have an young secondary so it could be a good game for the air attack of the Chiefs.

28-3 blow out: The Chiefs lost and looked ugly in the game. The niners had 2 pick six, which added to their 4 takeaways. The Chiefs defense looked average. Gave up 315 yards (117 rushing, 198 passing) but only gave up 1 touchdown. They also had 3 takeaways. The Chiefs had 258 yards but had the ball for 10 minutes less than the 49ers.
