ideal player sizes by position

i couldn't find anything that exactly had this but i used to have a thing that had the ideal player sizes by position, i cant find it anymore in my madden files. Does anyone have something like this? I find it helps for drafting

I think you should not worry about this kind of detail, because just like the ratings of players that are useless, it should not influence almost anything in a game as broken as Madden 18.

Re: ideal player sizes by position

Well I did this back in M15 and it looks like they still apply. They can change for archetypes though. But here are some I know based on archetypes I use often.

Strong Arm QB - 6'4"+ and 250lbs+
Balanced HB - 6'1"- and 210lbs+ (going over 6'1" reduces the size rating). I think this also works for One Cut.
Balanced FB - 6'2"+ and 240lbs+
Balanced WR - 6'4"+ and 220lbs+ (also works for RZ threat I think and maybe possession)
Balanced TE - 6'5"+ and 260lbs+
Run Blocker LT/RT - 6'4"+ and 310lbs+
Run Blocker LG/RG - 6'4"+ and 310lbs+
Run Blocker C - 6'4"+ and 310lbs+

I run a 3-4 defense so here are the ratings for a 3-4 front-7.
3-4 Run Stopper LE/RE - 6'4"+ and 300lbs+ (I believe this also works for 3-4 Versatile)
Nose Tackle DT - 6'3"+ and 350lbs+ (325lbs+ will get you 98 size rating)
3-4 Pass Rusher LOLB/ROLB - 6'3"+ and 260lbs+
3-4 Tackler MLB - 6'2"+ and 240lbs+ (I believe these also work for balance and run stopper archetypes and more)
Prototype CB - 6'2"+ and 220lbs+
Balance CB - 6'0"- and 199lbs- (under 200lbs and I believe size is 99 at 6'0" and below, but it might be 5'11" and below. This should also work for Man to Man)
Zone FS - 6'2"+ and 199lbs- (under 200 lbs for 99 size. also works for Playmaker and probably anything except prototype)
Playmaker SS - 6'2"+ and 199lbs- (same as FS archetypes)
K - 6'0"+ and 190lbs+ (I think this works for accurate and clutch, but I noticed in M18 that with Power archetype taller K/P's lose size if they are above 6'2" I think)
P - 6'0"+ and 190lbs+ (same as Kicker)

I don't really mess with heights of players that are drafted. I will edit weights though, especially since a lot of OL come in under 310lbs. And defensive linemen under 300lbs. And a lot of 3-4 Pass Rusher OLB's come in under 250lbs, so I edit those to 260 most of the time. No ridiculous weight edits though, like going from 200 to 300.

I agree, i wouldn't worry about it either, especially for this game. Telvin Smith is a vastly undersized LB but is doing very well in Jacksonville. He is only listed at 215LBS.
Usually in real life being undersized means you get injured more often. Being undersized imo is really only a bigger deal in a 3-4 defense and only on the front seven.
However Wade Philips likes to use a bit smaller NTs in his 3-4, around 295 to 310 lbs but has had some that are bigger if they are already established players like Jamal Williams was in SD. He was 340 lbs. But then Wade Phillips run a bit of a different type of 3-4 than the norm.

Re: ideal player sizes by position

You determine your own ideal size for each position and how important it is.

Don't pay any mind to the game telling you if a certain player has good size.
