Best Golf Game for XB1?so, I used to play Tiger Woods, back in the day (like 6+ years ago) and I caught myself watching about 20 minutes of golf this weekend (which now makes my total for my life about 25 minutes). I decided I want to buy a golf game for XB1. What are the best options? I used to love the TW games, where I'd create myself and do a career. Thoughts out there? Thanks!Tags: None

I have the PS4 and have all 3 games for the system. Hands down The Golf Club 2.Comment

Cool, man. I appreciate your input, especially from someone who has or has played all the games. I also have a PS4, but I literally only have 3 games for it, The Show 15, 16, 17, and soon to be 18. I'm a true xbox-er so I'll probably download TGC2 tonight. Appreciate it!Comment

Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

I can attest to The Golf Club 2 being your best bet on the XBox One. I also own TGC 2 for the PC and PS4. I can say that The Golf Club 2 actually plays and looks better, to me, on the XBox One (and especially now on my XBox One X) than the PS4 version. I could not say that for the original The Golf Club. It was markedly better looking and playing on the PS4.

I own Rory McIlroy PGA Tour for the XBox One X and it doesn't stack up to TGC 2, overall. Yeah, it looks better in still screenshots, but I like the feel, flow and gameplay of TGC 2 sooooo much more than RMPGAT. The career mode in RMPGAT is better than that of TGC 2, by a long shot, but I find the gameplay so far behind TGC 2 that it's not worth the sacrifice. The putting game in RMPGAT is so far behind that of TGC 2 that it feels almost broken.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

This makes me nervous, can you expand on the career mode? All I'm going to be doing is creating myself, and starting right into career mode, and playing here and there. You stated RM was better than TGC2 for this, can you explain more? Thanks, and I appreciate your feedback.Comment

Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

I have a feeling that you think that you can just get on and play a full career in TGC2. Well.. you have to play to unlock more levels, which allow you to add more tournaments for your career.
Level 10 will have your career wide open so that you can have a full season with all the majors.
The field you will be playing with will also increase from 200 golfers, to 250 golfers.
They are not real golfers, but you can edit all of them so that you have all the PGA players. Just match their handicaps while doing that. Again.. I would wait until you have level 10 before doing that.
So having said that, before you play career, you really should be out there playing as many rounds on as many courses as you can so that you earn enough coins to level up your society ( offline career).
The game is so rewarding though that while you are doing this, you may actually forget to even get that career going!
Two exceptional online societies to look at joining...
 1. RCR World Tour ( all courses are real life recreated)
 2. Taylor Made RCR World Tour ( just like #1 )
 3. TGCTours..
This particular society is outstanding! Full stat tracking here. You have to sign up at tgctours.com to set up first. Then you play in Q-school to find out where you start on the tour.
Money ranking, World golf ranking is updated every week. They also have a graph to show how you have been playing from week to week as well.

That’s just 3 societies off the top of my head, and those will keep you busy for most of the week.

This game is just so much more deeper than just a career mode my friend.
But the game, I promise you won’t regret it.
 CheersComment

Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

I'm certainly not the best gamer to ask about career mode play in golf games. To the limited extent I tried career mode in RMPGAT and TGC 1 (I haven't even touched TGC 2's career mode), I found that TGC's was akin to playing against adjustable bell curve scores on a spreadsheet. It never gave me the impression that I was playing against any form of dynamic competition. I just felt like I was shooting at numbers that had been pre-cooked based on a formula. This makes me nervous, can you expand on the career mode? All I'm going to be doing is creating myself, and starting right into career mode, and playing here and there. You stated RM was better than TGC2 for this, can you explain more? Thanks, and I appreciate your feedback.

It might help to have some familiar names on the board of people or players against whom you'd like to compete, but the players aren't amassing their scores based on a statistically modeled AI player from what I see and sense.

RMPGAT's career mode has a wee bit more personality because it uses players you know that are built in, and it puts a little more packaging of an "event" into the tournament and it's place in a season. The gameplay is just not compelling enough in that game to make me want to slog through it, but even if the gameplay was up to snuff, I'm just not a career mode golf gamer, other than a mild curiosity about how they implement it.Last edited by OnlookerDelay; 03-21-2018, 06:56 PM.Duke Football? Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

Thanks guys! I am pretty aware TGC2 is the way better golf game. My dilemma is, that I'm probably going to play one of these for a total of, MAYBE 3-5 hours. I am playing NBA, Madden, and mostly UFC right now (a little NHL still). MLB comes out in a few days so I'll be submersed in that with UFC as my backup. I figure once or so a month, I'll hop on with my created self and play a round or two in a tournament in career mode. This is why I was even going back and forth, because it seems RM would be better for this, as silly as it sounds, because TGC2 seems to clearly be the better game.Comment

Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

Price isn't the issue. Believe me I just got started with the Golf Club franchise a few months back. Once you get halfway decent at the game it is a joy to play. There are so many good courses in this game you would be hard pressed to play them all in a year.Comment

Re: Best Golf Game for XB1?

I was a beta tester for TW2004 and that IMO was the best golf sim ever produced, and still likely is. That game had the full magic of golf, and it is now 15 years old. Ball physics were spot on, dynamic cameras perfect, even feherty and mccord were pretty good at what they did. Contouring/mesh/texture and shadowing were so good you could read the greens just by using the editable various dynamic cameras. Tru-Swing w/ a mouse truly is the control mechanism worth its salt for golf. I'm enjoying RMPGAT which I just bought along w/ XBox One X, and my conclusion is that really it is primarily a TV PGA Tour simulator mostly, and a golf playing sim secondarily. About 65:35. Had EAS simply used the dynamic cameras from TW2004 including the very useful aerial fly over, allowed users to move themselves on the T box like real world players do, and duplicated the ball rolling physics present RMPGAT would really have been special. For some odd reason as your ball comes to a stop in RMPGAT it stops rather abruptly, whereas in TW2004 ball rolling was spot on. I'm enjoying it enough but those simple attributes really made TW2004 the best golf sim for many many years, if not still, and I feel could easily have been added to RMPGAT.

I'm looking at TGC 3 as well when it releases.Comment

So I can fire RM right up, create myself, and hop into a career mode? That's the goal. From what I've read, that's the better title for that.Comment
