    Worst Losses

Just thought I'd start a little something where we can vent about some of the tougher games we've had to endure. Lol. Games where you were inches away from simming the rest it was so bad. Ive had my fair share of horrid blowouts, but this most recent one was awful. We, the Red Sox, were down 4-3 in the top of the 4th, they have 2 on. One strike away from ending the inning, and got a COMPLETE strike 3 called a ball! [emoji34]. The next pitch, Chris Davis goes yard and makes it 7-3. From there is where it all went downhill. Couldn't get a call, started making errors, couldn't hit (except for a solo shot from J.D.) and end up losing 14-4. A painful loss. Just awful. Just interested to see how others deal with those kind of games.

    Re: Worst Losses

I can't remember my biggest blowout right now, but I lost a game on a walk-off suicide squeeze in the 16th inning a few nights ago. That was painful. To say it caught me off guard is an understatement. Soler was crossing the plate before I could even get a throw off. Has to be my worst loss so far.

Oh god! Yeah that is what I forgot to touch on too, the heartbreakers! The nailbiters ending that way would always have me fuming for a good while afterwards lol.

MLB 12. Red Sox @ Blue Jays.

Lost as the Blue Jays 28 - 26 in the 17th.

At that point I didn't care, losing was just a kick me while I'm down moment. I just wanted out of the game.

Didn't play for two weeks after that.

1-0 losses are THE worst, hands down.

How about a complete game, 0 earned runs 1-0 loss?

Also once lost a world series game 6-4 with 0 earned runs. My team was drunk.

Edit: Forgot to mention the 1-0 game was a no hitter too.

My worst loss ever was back in 16. After playing all 30 Spring Training + 162 Regular Season games, i finished my season with the best overall record and was sure, im going easy to the World Series.

But the Orioles didnt think so. I got sweeped in the first round. In Game 3, 9th Inning, 2 Outs, im up 5-2. I hate the Orioles for that.

Yeah this is awful and I feel your pain. The computer is really good at suicide squeezes. They seem to do them somewhat regularly in extra inning situations like that.

Some of my most painful losses are the ones that could have been different had my guy not slid into third on a single up the middle that could’ve scored a run. Absolutely hate it when they do that. Ignore my commands and just slide into third. (This has only been happening in ‘17 and ‘18.)

But basically any walk off hurts more than a blowout to me.

Lost in my Reds franchise vs nationals last night. I must have hit just about every ball on the screws....good timing, good contact, but EVERYONE of them were right at the defender...EVERYONE. The nats had 11 hits, and I bet you 9 out of those 11 hits they hit lazy bloop fly balls for hits, or lazy ground balls hit into the dirt that might as well have been bunts and I could't throw them out. I lost. I know sometimes stuff like this happens, but after a while it really gets old when i literally happens like every batter.
I wouldn't ever set out to hurt anyone deliberately unless it was, you know, important -like a league game or something.

I just came off a 3-game stretch where I scored all my runs in the first inning: up 3-0, lost 8-3; up 2-0, lost 5-2; & up 4-0, lost 6-4. Talk about frustrating.

I don’t actually care about any of this.

Just last night to the Rockies. I'm the Padres. I was up 4-3 going into the top of the 9th. I don't remember how we got there, but bases were loaded for them with one out. Ended up striking out Blackmon with Hand. Should've left my closer in but he was at 28 pitches with Arenaddo coming up. I yanked him for Capps. I was up 0-2 in the count but couldn't put him away. Eventually the count in 3-2 and I just laid a fastball in there middle in. It landed on the damn warehouse!

Bottom of 9, down 7-4, I work the bases loaded with a walk and two infield hits. I'm starting to believe! I get a double with Myers to make it 7-6 still none out. Runners 2nd and 3rd. Struck out with Hosmer. I was too anxious and swinging at crap. With one out I bunt. I still don't know why. I outsmarted myself. Runners stay put and I just gave them a free out. I use auto base running. Flew out on a lazy fly ball by Galvis to end it.

Arenado had 5 HRs in the 4 game series, 3 in game one, but the deadliest in game 4. I'm walking him from now on. Always.
