Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
His 1212 headkick is probably one of the most powerful in the game. -
Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
He’s my favorite character to use, I just wish he got a updated fighting stance, he needs a hands low stance, and a model update.

Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
Thompson is one of my favourite fighters to use.
His footwork and unique blitz are brilliantly effective against predictable opponents.
I generally use a lot of his real tactics and switch often, always trying to kick into the open side of my opponent no matter which leg I'm using.
I also like to use Bill Wallaces triple attack. Which you can do with Thompson, as his unique lead roundhouse is chambered similar to the lead side kick and the lead hook kick, you can basically set up an effective triple attack using those 3 kicks and the side kicks to the leg and body.
Of course that is only really effective against opponents who just come forward and rarely slip left/right.
I'm also a fan of occasionally using his rear high kick-switch stance combo, however I usually do it twice, so its a blazing fast rear high kick into switch followed immediately by another one and another switch to put me back in my original stance, you can also do this with the rear body and leg kick.
It can be very effective in my experience.
And finally. His unique real low kick is REALLY good for setting up the rear ? Kick, he actually uses it like that IRL, too.
Basically just get the opponent used to the rear low, either naked or.off a 2, then once they're timing it, throw ? Kick either naked or off a 2.
The startup is very very similar, it works extremely well for me.
He also feels 10x better bow he has basic Muay Thai combos.Comment

Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
Huge reason why he's so much more effective as a karate fighter in the game than Machida or Waterson. I mean, the crazy-good stats help, too, but actually being able to keep people guessing about whether a low kick or high kick is coming is massively important.Comment

Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
He is hard to use since the meta is boxing and he doesn't have the highest level punches or boxing combosComment

Re: Stephen Thompson is unusable for me
Yeah, I'll be on a decent run with him, then run into someone who knows how to stay in my face and spam boxing combos, and won't use Wonderboy again for a week.Comment

I really wish Machida had Muay Thai level 1, it'd make him feel 10x better. He's already one of my favourite fighters to use but I'm also constantly trying to load up body kicks and leg kicks off straight counters then remembering he can't.
I'm actually planning on going over a lot of his fights to find him using either a 2-rear low or 2-rear body kick or another basic MT combo so there's grounds to get them added in game.
I know for a fact I've seen him fake his straight and immediately blast a rear leg kick, you can't replicate that in game without L1 MT combos.
I haven't watched enough of Michelles fights to confidently say she does too. But I'd imagine she could/has thrown several of the Muay Thai L.1 combos.
One thing I LOVE with Machida, is dancing about with front kicks to the body, then the crane kick to the head. I land that way more than I should haha.Comment
