KK so Ive been thinking this for a while but this patch kinda sealed me making a post about it. The champion fighters are good ideas there just isn't enough of them, and I'm assuming titles haven't been changing hands as often as the UT devs were thinking when they designed this concept. There are issues like there being no specialist, only 1 striker in 1 weight classes, and unbalanced matchups between the champ fighters that share the same division. Just not enough diversity.

My idea is a new tab on the sets page, next to Champions, called "Legends" or in the vein of this patch, "Icons". Now you're not limited to them having belts. Give us a prime Anderson Silva at MW, another 5 star striker in a different weight class. Give us a prime Royce Gracie, 4 or 5* Specialist! Make the first 5* brawler be chuck, 5* grappler be tito.

You see what Im getting at there are alot more possibilities, and this doesnt seem like to big a change. There not being a champ specialist has always annoyed me and if Ortega doesn't beat Holloway next week, we may never get one. This would solve that, no praying someone good at subs wins a title when Royce is already in the game!

And last, and probably most obvious at all, this would at least dampen some of the complaints about just seeing the same fighters all day every day. People are going to use 4* fighters if they have them and if there is only one smart option, everyones going to have that same fighter. This way might mean some fresh matchups

Adding new 4* and 5* fighters is a good idea and hopefully they add them. Has anybody got there season 3 rewards yet, I’ve not got mine yet.

Yeah i would love if even just the new fighters added would be at the very least 4 Stars. We’d have a couple brawlers (Kimbo, Wanderlei), a specialist (Serra), a striker (Cro Cop), and a grappler (Ortiz)

I wonder if you could pack a 4 Star in an icon pack? Seems like a stretch but it might be possible if you’re insanely lucky...usually cards that show up in highlights of the week can be pulled from packs

It's been confirmed that there are only PIECES in the Icon packs whereas the Bizarro packs had the slim chance at a full gold fighter these do not.

The fact that the Icons don't have more slots but have slight increases in attributes over other grapplers, brawlers, etc is really really weak for what they cost. I'm still planning to try for Hughes just because I need a 4* MW and it would look good for my e-peen lol but he is not really much better than 4* GSP especially when you factor in the crazy cost.

BUT WHERE IS THE SPECIALIST?!?!

First off, no Royce. Shameful. 2nd, you make Matt Serra a grappler?! I could understand if you made him a brawler, even balanced, but by making him a grappler, you're acknowledging that he is known more for his grappling, yet have made him a wrestler! Serra BJJ anyone? All wrestling transitions, its like whoever designed their styles had no idea

Anyway, now I've got that out my system, wanna point out something to you guys that you may not have noticed yet. Yes, they have higher stats, but don't have more boost slots.... Have any of you guys actually studied there BASE moves?

That's where these cards shine. Urijah Faber has a Lv 4 Power Double Leg and a Level 4 Guillotine.... these are the first moves higher than level 3 in the game.

BJ Penn has a lv 4 rear naked, Matt Hughes has lv4 wrestling transitions, all these without it even taking up a card space.

Now what I will say is, the strikers don't have lv 4 moves but they do have a lv 3 over hand and a lv2 lead overhand, and Cro-Cop has a lv 3 head kick. I like the idea, I've thought fighters should have different base moves since the start.

To put in perspective, Urijah has one less boost slot than Khabib but 1 extra move slot on him, has higher base stats, and starts with a lv 4 TD and submission.... these fighters are definitely worth having

Now I've gotta figure out how I'm gonna get one of them!!

The cost versus what you get isn't there though. After allowing the game to be flooded with 5* Conors for really cheap if you just do nothing but Wildcard Tokens, these cards based entirely in their randomness is just ridiculous.

Sure I'd like to get Hughes and Cro Cop but with only 26 days (now) left in the promo and me not spending any money on packs that's going to be pretty much impossible.

I spent my 450k last night on packs and did several trade ins on the pieces and did the solos and bought the premium starter pack and got 3 Hughes cards. I have 4 Wildcards saved but damn now I'm going to need luck and at least one more Wildcard to HOPE to get Hughes...

The cards are good but they aren't break the bank good and it's not even REMOTELY a fair promotion for casuals.

Youre definitely right about that. They do seem really hard to get but ill keep grinding n see how close i come. I was just excited at the 4* moves, am hoping they continue that trend, and maybe make em a lil easier lol

Also just to note you can indeed use WC tokens on the Icon sets. Im planning on grinding the event pack, and keep making wildcards, when its on the last day hopefully ill be able to get at least one. Have my eyes on faber :P just an fyi, dont necessarily need all 10 of the duplicates. I bet alot of people have been sat on their tokens for an event just like this

Faber had 21 slot move an 8 boost.
Khabib had 22 slot move and 9 boost.

Also rampage and wanderlei had level 3 overhand like other 3 stars brawler. No special move.

I really dont see the extra value over khabib and namajunas ( Best 4 stars for me )

But yeah hugues seems (slighly) better than gsp or woodley.

Lvl 3 crocop kick is sexy but MC grégor still better striker.

I've been grinding and sitting on Wildcards for the past month and change when I learned of these cards coming but I was only able to make 4 in total. Even with the four and the luck I've had with pulling 3 Hughes I'm still 3 short with resources more or less dried up.

What bothers me most is that sure this promo benefits two types of people ONLY the people that had info early and saved everything and the people that spend hundreds on packs. That's not a fair approach to a mode where I still face Silver fighters from time to time 6 months into the game. This is NOT a sustainable model to make the mode flourish but instead it will only push MORE people away from Ultimate Team and that's really unfortunate.

With Faber you need to factor in that he has a better takedown than anyone right now and if youre like me you would spend a slot on it. Kinda works out as an extra slot. Same with his guillotine. Its true that the brawlers and strikers are a lil underpowered against the grapplers but you should look at them compared to the others in the division. Cro Cop is better than Miocic for example. Better stats starts with that kick. Would shake things up nicely
