Problems with the new player development/progression system

I think it’s a step in the right direction, but I’ve run 3 different test CFMs and simmed about 5 seasons in. I’ve noticed that tons of players are significant boosts in speed, acceleration, and agility. I even implemented the XP sliders in TDawg’s XP slider thread in my last test run and below are some of the results at the beginning of season 4:

Saquon Barkley had 95 speed, 98 agility, and 97 acceleration

Roquan Smith had 91 speed, 95 zone, and 91 man.

Zeke went up to 95 speed and 97 agility with 97 break tackle, 88 trucking, and 91 elusiveness.

Todd Gurley now has 95 break tackle, 86 trucking, 95 juking, 96 agility, and 97 elusiveness.

Marshon Lattimore now has 97 speed.

Derwin James went up to 94 speed, 95 man, 92 zone.

Jamal Adams went to 95 speed.

Alvin Kamara went up to 92 speed, 96 acceleration, and 95 agility.

I understand that these players are primed to be the most broken of all the younger players, however they still seem extreme. Roquan Smith became a cornerback/linebacker hybrid that frankly isn’t even imaginable. Derwin James became the second coming of Deion Sanders.

As someone who runs a 32 user CFM that goes 8ish seasons deep per Madden, these results are alarming and frankly disheartening. I like the randomness of the player progression, but I feel that athleticism attribute boosts are way too common and frequent and will ultimately lead to broken players, just through a different method and without intent.

John White said on Twitter a player will have speed boost but it caps and locks after they get +3. Example, Lattimore starts at 94, he’ll never go above 97 speed thru his career.

If physical attributes are capped at +3 then I don't see a huge problem, there should be a few physical freaks in the league, Julio would be considered OP if someone drafted him in a CCM too!

That’s good to know, I never saw that. However, I still think that these physical attribute boosts should be more uncommon, especially for upper-echelon players. We all know people are going to have someone like Shaquem Griffin up to 94 speed at some point.

IMO, the cap should be +1 or +2 just to keep the game and rosters from getting out of hand.

As someone who generally gets througb about 20 seasons (i sim most games) i wouldn't mind them so much as they may offset the regression at the end of their career. Ten years in you can bomb all day against 75 speed corners that are still overall 88'S. the main problem is that the best overall players have the best progression. This is especially true of the draft. What is needed is more 65 overall wr's with superstar development. People that cqn sit on a bench for a couple of years and make steqdy improvement.

Regression isn’t nearly as bad as it was in previous version. Antonio Brown was 33 and still had 91 speed, 95 agility. It’s completely random now.

Do +3s in speed really make sense?

No it doesn't, it seems like an implementation they made for video game "fun factor" reasons.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

And considering it’s elite players that frankly don’t need any increase in speed/acceleration/agility that will be getting these boosts, it makes even less sense.

Yeah but 97 vs 94 speed is a big difference.

In theory but not in practice. 5-6 speed makes very little difference in gameplay right now. Very little.
