Missing free agents after preseason

I noticed after the pre season over alot of the decent free agents just dissapear. Dez bryant is just gone as well as all the higher rated free agents. Checked the transaction screen and nobody signed these guys, theyre just gone. Really dissapointing. Am i the only that noticed this?

In years past it was usually just lower rated players below a certain threshold that would disappear due to the game purging it's pool (i.e. everyone below 62OVR for example) to make room for draftees, etc in the new season.

Yea that ive seen before. But these are the guys rates in the 80s. Dez, Rodgers-Cromartie, Eric Reid, Tre Boston,etc.

In years past it was usually just lower rated players below a certain threshold that would disappear due to the game purging it's pool (i.e. everyone below 62OVR for example) to make room for draftees, etc in the new season.

The FA pool after week 1 ( regular season ) is capped at 640 players ( in M18) with set numbers at each position.

Previous to M17 this was indeed done by OVR ( ie removing the lower rated players) but this changed in M17 and now it is done by age , removing older players first

This tends to hit hardest at WR , CB and HB where initial rosters tend to be heavily populated

It's not ideal but it doesn't work too badly IMO

Note : the transaction report gets swamped by the preseason cuts and is incomplete in my experience around that time , it's highly likely the top FAs were signed ( if you check team rosters ) at least in my limited testing

Can't confirm for 19 but in years past the majority of top older players disappear if not on a team. Some have shown back up the next season but most are gone forever.

This game is such a mess. They make it hard for us to recommend this game to our friends when sh*t like this is the standard.

Older players at specific positions definitely do get deleted , there is a set maximum limit at each position ( totalling 640) only way to control it is to do 32 team control and sign them or do the work for the game and delete players yourself ( by turning them into 40 yo at a position that is over populated)

Edit : in my test CFM bryant gets signed but the oldest FA WR is 26

Wow, not good, I've seen some weird things like the Pats cutting 1st rd pick Sony Michel on cut down, which was weird, and some other high round picks being cut, wish the CPU was smarter in the game, still lacking there.

I KNEW THIS PROBLEM WOULD NEVER GO AWAY!!! it's so damm frustrating I spend hours doing rosters then when you start a franchise the CPU screws your rosters up so you have to spend hours again fixing it making it 100% correct worried that if players get released they will vanish I am so sick of this issue happening in Madden for the last 6 years since CFM came in and it's never been fixed

Wow, not good, I've seen some weird things like the Pats cutting 1st rd pick Sony Michel on cut down, which was weird, and some other high round picks being cut, wish the CPU was smarter in the game, still lacking there.

The CPU team management desperately needs significant improvement. No way should the CPU be cutting their top draft picks at the very next preseason.

Definitely needs work. Remember having to change ratings for bengals and colts running backs last year because they kept cutting them. It can be very annoying.

it's 2018 why are we still having to have limits on roster files??? games are not fitting on a disk these days. no other sports games have issues with players vanishing. MLB the show has 3000 players plus free agents. they have 90 men per roster. Madden is what 75??? there should be no reason for players to vanish and this problem hasn't been fixed for 6 years.

I hear that the long snapper issue has been fixed after 6 years though that finally we can actually put them at the LS position. Those players were famous for vanishing because of this issue

This happened to me last year on 17 tj Ward would always get cut by the bucs and he’d always just vanish I was hoping they’d of fixed this smh

MLB annoys me too, cause there are more than 90 guys in the organization. As for Madden, we should have 90 like in real life.

LS should be an official position, it's great that a TE can be a LS, cause the 49ers have a good one Kyle Nelson, who is a TE, doesn't play TE just LS, but man he's a 43 or so overall rating, we need LS as it's own position. But some teams have other positions as LS's, look at Giants, they have a LB who long snaps.
