I feel like post scoring in Pro Am is too hard

I have a 2 way post scorer that's nearly perfect. 7 245lbs Hakeem build. Post Scoring primary, Defense Secondary along with speed and decent rebounding

The only thing is, even with an 86 rating in post shots, I still miss. Even when I'm fully open. Am I just not good? I made a post shot Creator and pure scoring and they score when none perfect releases. Speaking of which, I've tried different releases already

It sucks cause this build can play good defense and when I get another strength attribute I'll have 93, enough to lockdown 7'3 340lb bigs.

Have you tried boosting your ratings ?

Before I go online I make sure all my key attributes are boosted from the news stand.

It can be the difference in greening shots or dunking in traffic..

Like mentioned boosting helps a ton . It feels like pay 2 win but that’s another topic.

I noticed for basic post fades close rating seems to factor the most . Drop steps and post spins should be unfuardable on your build . Up and unders are hit or miss . Very unreliable . Is your bruiser badge maxed ?

know the build you’re up against . I use nba 2k lab a lot. Think of it as a scouting report . Stay aggressive against sharp primary builds . Pick your spots with everyone else . I tend to bully smaller players in the paint . Bigger players I tend to force them out to the perimeter with midrange jumpers , screens , and high post ups . Then surprise them with a few cuts . You are most effective with people you know . Get hot before taking shots that seem more challenging .

Use the post drive too . It’s nice . A few post drive fakes will get your opponent off balance and open up your post fades a ton.

Speaking of fakes. I hear the spin move fake is dangerous this year. Should be fun.

Re: I feel like post scoring in Pro Am is too hard

2-way post scorer is pretty hard to post score vs all maxed out boosted players. Besides post scoring in general requires way more skill and experience than other areas. Real strength of the build is gold rim protector and pretty good ratings for a all-around style center.

I played around alot with post scoring this year, here some tips:

*For post fades you must find good combination of shot release and fade animation that works out for you. You really want to nail down release timing on every fade you take and its not easy with some delay online.
*you must master dunking right off the post up stance, its very important to know how to straight dunk without activating hook shot when opponents don't play straight up post defense and try to go to the side trying to force turnover.
*Simple backing down and drop stepping to put defender off play into out of bounds can work nice , but you can put yourself at risk for off 3 sec call if you don't have experience doing it.
*Elbow area great spot to receive ball and look for a post spin either direction, have room for teammate cut as well.
*Don't need to force post scoring, build is quite all around and can just be pick'n'roller with some spot up midrange shooting. Anticipate best moment for straight up 1v1 post scoring and always look for the passing opportunity (icon passing mandatory) .

So you boost your stuff at the newsstand ? The one right next to the walk-on Proam arena ??

Whenever I go to the stand it says it’s closed ??

You should get a message from your agent saying that he put a shirt in your closet as apart of an endorsement deal. Wear that shirt to the news stand . That’s how you unlock boost.

Once 2k stops (F)ing with me and give me a cap breaker in strength I can guard almost any position besides PG and SG. Stretch Bigs are barbeque chicken. The 7'3 340 lb guys give me trouble but I manage from time to time. Just need more strength

My bruiser maxes to HOF, half way there. Hard as hell to get. How big a difference does it make? But yeah, I'm Waiting for my strength to hit 92+. It's at 86 with 2 caps left and I'm 90ovr

It's just crazy because the Post Shot Creator has 91 post scoring, which is only 5 more attributes than 86

I've tried boosts that doesn't work...What about hot spots? I have no hot spots.

I'm on the verge of quitting and sticking with the shot creator and pure post. But they just don't have the quickness and the defense

No reason to be making new players this late unless you ain't getting 19 lol..

The problem with post scoring in pro am is the spacing..you get most your looks off burying someone down low and holding x or square to dunk or off cuts or open mid range.

If you really wanna excel as a post scorer you just gotta play with friends or people in a party looking for you..

And also it's just the nature of 2k and basketball in general ..

It's easy to hit 3s..most ppl run with a stretch and even then the 5 position isn't really the one tryna score.

Also yes, a hotspot can help down low...paired with badges

No not making another build and not buying 2k19.

Also I can hit the post fade with the Post Shot Creator and Pure Post and I know how to get open.

I have some cold spots I'm gonna have to reset. Maybe that's it?

                          Don't boost, bro.

It prol makes you better but don't give in. Some games I got killed by people playing trash, I was like man why. Then I read that supposedly boosting is super important. Why should you need to boost in pro am? Why should you need to boost a high rated dude? It should not make you better than your Max stats.

Anyway, you should dunk more. Drop step n dunk. Pin n dunk. I had a 2 way like 75 rated and I balled unless I was against a defender (prol boosted) or a whole team was on me. At which point I'd be like stop passing I am just gonna lose the ball before I can press x.

The shimmy hook is nice too. There are a couple lay up seeming animations from out of dunk range that go in. I dunno if I'd ever pull a fade away unless I was clowning. Maybe a step back but it takes so long that people can help contest. The step back pass is deadly. To the cutter. Get em.

But Yea just go hard. You got str and silver poster. Once people start worrying about your dunks then do a little finesse, but if people are ready to help I dunno how easily you are gonna get off a quick shot that's high percentage.

                          -Smak

Boosts are as significant as hof badges this year. Its not just some stat boost to category , it give whole mechanical advantages everywhere. I played post scorer whole year fair amount and i can confidently say its easier to score vs non-boosted slashing rabeounder than fully boosted pure stretch. Its ridiculous how powerful(and p2w) boosts are.

yeah you can argue you can outplay with no boost vs boosted squads and what not. But if your opponent in the same level of skill and composure and they got boosts advantage , you're so screwed.
