Takeover already seems broken

Look how far away Horford is without anyone in sight. Mike Wang tweeted that athletic finishers have the ability to "clear players out of the paint." This seems to be whats going on in this pic, assuming Giannis is an "atheltic finisher" (you can see the new takeover symbol activated) Notice how Horford is moving away and clearing the paint for Giannis without anyone around him? The real Horford would stay at the elbow area in case he needed to help defend Giannis while still able to step up and defend his matchup who hasnt even crossed halfcourt yet. I can only imagine what kind of insane manuevers the other kinds of players get. I know this is just an assumption but it makes sense and I'm actually disappointed because it seems fairly game breaking.

I hope thats not a Takeover effect, but it had me thinking. Why would that be an affect when it has no affect in any multiplayer mode? I mean, Giannis wouldnt be able to do that if Horford was human-controlled, so why would they program the AI to do that?

I think thats just the broken transition/after basket defence 2k is known for.

In 2k18 Pf/C will always run and stand in the most idiotic places untill their man comes up the court and stands at the 3 point line for 3 seconds or crosses the line.

Gotcha. The "clearing" out he was referring to was creating space after a rebound...getting "elbow room".....

It was tweeted and im paraphrasing, that an athletic finisher at PF (assuming Giannis) is able to "clear out the paint" because they lack the ability to dribble like other players. Idk what that means but it sounds like theyre artificially moving defenders out of the paint to make it more open for the guy attacking the rim using takeover. Maybe im overthinking it idk.

Not sure if this is anything to be alarmed about but it's exactly why 2k needs to have a gameplay blog or something. We need more info, the game drops in less than 3 weeks and we should have that info by now.

His tweet about takeover unlocking "unique contact animations that cannot be found on any player" makes me nervous too. I dont wanna see that stuff mid game. People barely dunk more than twice a game anyways.

Smh. Definitely over thinking this. Why would just because you are hot would the defense not play defense. I’m puzzled.

Tru but otoh it's 2k. The same "dudes don't rebound if you don't contest a shot" 2k. The same dudes walk away from players to simulate defensive mistakes. Etc.

This is the answer to the OP. It's that broken *** transition defense where the players go to an "assigned" spot on the floor while they're waiting for the offense to cross half court.
