    Historic Roster for 2k19 (PS4) - Let's Pick a Year

OK, so with the new information that's emerged over the last couple of weeks - a much-improved CAP system, and full historic draft classes from 1976 onward - I'm really psyched to do some roster creation and I want to be ready to start on Day One. My goal is to pick a starting year and create as detailed a roster as possible, and then fill out draft classes so that someone could theoretically play out the entire history of the NBA in MyLeague.

So: which season would make the best starting season? The first year that there was a three point line was 1979-1980, so I'd be inclined to start no earlier than that (even though the idea of creating a mid- or even early 70s league and including ABA teams is pretty interesting). Could also jump ahead to the following year (1980-81), so that you get the expansion Mavericks.

    Any feedback?

And also, anyone want to collaborate? Every year there's a bunch of us working on different projects and we all manage to do solid work over a few months but I feel like if a few of us joined together we could probably so something really spectacular and detailed.

My favorite season of all time was the 76-77 season, year of the NBA/ABA merger. Yes there was no 3 pt shot then but that season gets my vote. If not that then Magics first season 79-80.

I’d personally like to see an 80s roster where a team other than the Lakers won the NBA championship. The 3 80s rosters on 2k18 were all Laker years so it would be nice to have one of the Celtics , 76ers or Pistons champion teams in the game. Those years would be 81,83,84,86 and 89.

If you do a 90s one I’d suggest doing 93-94 or 94-95 as no one has done them in a while. They usually go for the Jordan years.

I think 1983-1984 would be cool. It was the first Lakers-Celtics finals of the 80s, you get the '84 draft class to create first which shouldn't be too hard, and I don't think I've ever seen this roster made on a console for 2K. 1984-1985 would be nice too if you just want to have Jordan on the Bulls from the start.

I did 76-77 a few years ago, and I'd rather not do a flat-out repeat if I can avoid it. Plus, in real life there were no 3-pointers in 76-77.

Right now I'm leaning hard toward 79-80 or 80-81. Or maybe 83-84?

I’d vote 1983-84. I’m biased as a Celtics fan but in all seriousness that was probably the season that put the NBA on the map.

1979-80 season is cool to start with in my opinion due to the arrival of magic and bird or 1983-84 when everyone really pay attention to the nba due to the first magic/bird finals matchup.

If you do a 90s season can you start with the 92-93 season or 93-94. The biggest what if of that decade is what if Jordan had never retired and there were actually a bulls vs rockets finals.

I'm probably going to do 92-93 as a second roster, assuming the first one goes well, but because I'm a genuine old person I want to start with something in the late 70s or early 80s.

Given that historic draft classes are going to be available, what would everyone think of doing 78-79, so you could have Magic and Bird in your first draft class in a MyLEAGUE?

Although it's not that long ago, I'd say 2011. The Lakers had Kobe, Metta, Pau and Bynum. Miami had the big 3 and so did the Celtics. Bulls, Mavs, Spurs and Memphis had great runs. Also the Knicks acquired Melo and Billups, Rose was going crazy and AI, Yao and Brandon Roy were still in the NBA.

I'd love to have the Mavs included from the get-go, so it's a little too early to me and 83-84 would give you an even better draft class imo

I think, given some of the guys that have now been announced - a lot of new late 70s / early 80s guys - that I'm just going to do two rosters to start with: 1978-79 and 1983-84.

                              Can't wait for Friday!
