    BEST BUILD FOR 2K19?

After playing through the prelude a couple of times and testing out different builds, a lot has changed since 2K18. The developers sent out a lot of tweets about defenders and slashers this year, but I think post play is going to be dominate this year with the Takeover system. I watched this build video on YouTube and a Shot Creating Post Scorer at Small Forward looks like it's going to be unstoppable. Last year I made about ten different builds, but this year I plan to make this build a 99 given the attribute caps and badges.

    HOF:
Difficult Shots, Drop Stepper, Up & Under, Mid Range Deadeye, Tireless Scorer, Acrobat, Tear Dropper, Relentless Finisher, Post Spin
    GOLD:
Catch and Shoot, Lob City Finisher, Posterizer, Break Starter, Lob City Passer, Dimer, Bruiser, Brick Wall
    SILVER:
Corner Specialist, Deep Range Deadeye, Putback King, Pick & Roller, Ankle Breaker, Hustle Rebounder, Defensive Stopper

What builds are you making for 2K19?

    Re: BEST BUILD FOR 2K19?

defending/rebounding center will **** on every other center build in the game this year, have a look at it, the badges are nuts. From my years of experience of trying a post scorer on park and proam the build is just not as effective as other center builds, primarily due to your team mates.....hell, some people you play with will not even know what the post is, and even when they pass you the ball in the post they will run up to you and set a screen for you clogging the lane. dont even get me started on proam, the spacing is just a mess
The post hook is another reason it doesn't work. The supposed "go to" shot of the post player it is the only shot in the game that does not trigger a badge, even free throws have a badge, this sucks big time as some builds like pure sharps can trigger 3+ badges for their primary shot (Pick and roll maestro, limitless range, dead eye, corner specialist) all those badges for one shot. This severally limits the late game potential (90+) of the post scorer, resulting in you just doing fades and spins...if you play with someone who passes you the ball....and if you play with someone who does not clog the lane......and if you can outplay your opponent with fakes....and if you are not matched up against someone with a defending archetype, because most of your shots will be lightly contested at best, meaning all your shots will rely on badges and defensive archetypes negate badges.
You see where I am going with this? In order to be just as effective with a post scorer compared to other builds a lot of planets need to align, so why bother with all those extenuating circumstances when you can just stand under the rim grab a rebound, go straight back up and dunk on someone!
Sorry for the rant, just my experience of trying to get a post scorer to work since 2k14. Would be happy if I am proven wrong this year.

Having played defense and post among other builds, I agree with your comments about the limitations of the post with randoms, but am a little more suspicious of the hype around the defensive archetypes.

Usually defensive builds have almost no offense especially in 18 and looks like 19 in spite of the modest buffs they received on offense.

In ProAm I could see a Rim and lock having roles, but in the park, your lack of offense will render your opponent a functional lock / rim as well.

And everyone forgets about 2s and 1v1, where post will always have a role, likely shot post and slash post respectively.

I hope everything is balanced and all builds are viable and everyone enjoys 19.

I also hope for world peace.

        What a load of crap.

        1) i consistently make hookshots with a slashing rebounder in both park and pro-am.
My main post scorer Made hookshots from near the 3pt line consistently.
Agreed, you had to have space, but the animations usually Made enough space to make it work. Below is mostly park footage but there are Some long distance hook in those

        2) Mike wang confirmed they took note of the issue and in 2k19 the posthook/fade will follow different contest rules than regular shots.
For one, they will trigger difficult shots.

And contesting itself has been looked at. Being around or behind isnt enough anymore, people need to put hands up.

I’m confident it’ll be an even better year for post scorers than 18 was.

More than ever I feel like almost every build that makes sense is going to be good and it's more going to rely on who is on the sticks. No more garbage pure sharps draining everything

I should have been clearer - I'm making a Shot Creating Post Scorer as a Small Forward. I agree with everything you said in regards to a Center (which all center builds seem to be worst than PFs this year). At SF you get a silver catch and shoot and bronze deep range deadeye and corner specialist. So while this build is made for post scoring, it will dominate from the mid range and be able to hit threes consistently. I guess I'm looking at it as a finished product and also thinking about 2 on 2 in park, and only playing with people that have some basketball IQ.

*I edited the original post to include the 99 overall badges.

              Re: BEST BUILD FOR 2K19?

After playing around with Cousins in the 2ku I was amazed at how much better the post game felt and went absolute ham with him. It was so much fun it is making me seriously consider making a big scorer this year even though I always run point.
But then on second thought, I basically only play pro-am sooo, trying to get time and space in the post to work might be an adventure. I can see an organized team having a ton of success running offense through the post this year though.

So I just played a game with this build and this was something that definitely stood out. Even though a defender is nearby and 'contesting' from behind, those shots showed up as "Open". Even when I took a shot from the post and the defender stood there with his hands up, it only showed as Lightly Contested.
