Rewards reviews (how to spend your tokens)

Wondering if y'all could share some reviews of rewards players purchased with tokens? I think this is a cool addition to the game, like a better grind than is usually found in these modes. Takes a little focus off the auction house, but seems more reasonable than MLBs tickets.

I'll start by saying that Morris Peterson has done a fine job for me at the 2 and I could see keeping him on my bench for a while after I upgrade that position

Need a PF next. Was looking at Kevin Willis or maybe Rodney Rogers. Not interested in Channing Frye although I get why hes popular.

Mo Pete has been great for me, I still start him and I have a team full of sapphires. Best reward card I've had though is Mike Dunleavey, such a smooth release and can finish at the rack as well. Consistently drops 20 or more each domination game for more.

Agree on Peterson. I just got Dunleavy and although it looks a great card I have hard time with high-arched shots, but I'll give him a try.

Rogers or Willis, depends on your game style. Rogers is like a current big man, who can score from different positions, assist and run the fastbreak but a bit undersized, while Willis is more a classic big man with good post game and rebounding but not so much playmaking and athleticism. I enjoy playing with Rogers but sometimes Willis fits better.

I made these two reviews for now:

Mo Pete is nice, I've enjoyed playing with him.

I also got Emerald James Posey. Classic 3 and D guy, has enough size and strength to defend some of the tougher wings. He has an unconventional release but it seems to be effective at beating close contests (though I think someone jumping to block it could do a decent job).

Willis is a beast in the post. Lobs, dunks, etc. Can work well at center too.

Eddie Jones - This card is amazing. Great defense, great shooting, can handle the ball and can dunk. I don't see myself taking him out of my lineup anytime soon.

Shumpert - Another great card. Can dunk, great defender and can hit the 3 ball.

Morris Peterson - I like this card but this guy is the king of long twos. Dude never spots up for threes. Don't know if it's his jumpshot or what.

Pippen - Great defender of course and hits a ton of greens for me despite not having the highest shooting ratings.

Jay Williams - Another great card. Can pass, dunk (a little), and shoot.

Jared Jeffries - This card is a beast defensively and can spot up for three.

So far I've gone with David West and James Posey with my first two picks because i didn't have a PF and no SF depth. Poseys D and three ball have been beneficial and West is a good player to come off the bench since i got Malone.

Re: Rewards reviews (how to spend your tokens)

Not sure how far along in the game everyone is, but Geoff Petrie & Rudy Tomjanovic are the two best amethysts. Dirk is a close 3rd, but he's so slow and a liability on D unless you're really locked in.

Petrie can do it all, he reminds me of last year's Pistol Pete, but with defense. He also dunks. A LOT which caught me off-guard. I put a diamond steal shoe on him that brings him up to a 91. His post stats aren't godly by any means, but if smaller, weaker guards are on him, it's barbecue chicken.

Rudy T is amazing. He's listed at 6'8, but he's so long he looks around 6'10 in game. He grabs so many boards, he plays lockdown defense 1-4, but the highlight of this card is that he has (for me, at least) the smoothest release in the game. It's perfect. I have Steph, Klay, and Diamond Melo, and Rudy T is still my favorite guy to shoot with off the catch. He's perfect as the wing player in your Triple Threat lineup. Gave him a diamond shoe that brings his SWB up to 78 and LQ to 90. I don't have the card yet, but he reminds me of AK47 with less athleticism/playmaking. I probably won't replace Rudy until I can get that Diamond Kirilenko.

Dirk is Dirk, really no explanation needed. If you play through him, he'll average 25-30 easy, but he's pretty bad as a role player, especially against human opponents who know how to expose him. Surprisingly though, he gets a lot of blocks.

One guy who I'd advise to stay away from is that Diamond Camby. I replaced my Eaton with him, and I'm not really impressed so far. The ratings are better, but Eaton being 7'4 is just something you can't replace. Camby also goes into "brain neutral" when you're not controlling him on defense. He consistently let's small guards put up weak layups right within his reach. I have no doubt that if I user-controlled him, he could lockdown the paint, but I never had to force Eaton to bring weak-side help. He'd just do it. It's only been about 5 games with him, but he's skating on thin ice.

As far as Melo goes, he is Melo. I've had more success with him at the 4. Most 4's can't guard him. And there's literally no way he can't score. His pick and pop is deadly and he has a 93 fade. Adding post badges to him was a given. I added a diamond shoe that boosts his Moving 3, LQ, and SWB. He's definitely the best scorer in the game right now. Also being that he is a diamond, he has double Archetypes. Shot-Creating/Sharpshooter. If he gets hot, you can easily drop 20 in a quarter.

Dennis Scott is amazing, nothing but perfect release. Have him coming off the bench for Byron Russell and just shoot the lights out with him. In the 5 games I've used him in he's gone for 15-20 points in 10 minutes max and has yet to miss one shot. His shot is smooth.

Re: Rewards reviews (how to spend your tokens)

Been grinding to 1000 cards to enter amy/diamond tier... so here are some thoughts on my recent purchases.

Starting of with Amy Cards I'd say Geoff Petrie & Dirk are the must gets.

Don't have to talk a lot about Dirk, you already know this card is the goat in the post. His defense/rebounding ain't good enough to run him at the 5 but he fits nicely at the 4 and has great shooting from mid/deep.

Petrie is the big suprise in the tier. His stats are decent everywhere, kinda an allrounder if you look at him - but what stands out are his animations. He has nasty crossovers and a fast release which make him the hidden gem for me.

Now lets talk about the diamonds. I'd say the "BIG 3" are easily Davis, Peja and Melo. It doesnt matter who you are going to pick up - you won't be disappointed. At this point of the game, cards like that feel OP - each on his own way.

Baron is an offensive all-around weapon. If you know him from last year he has a lot of good animations and is very quick. Paired with high shooting and high dunking ratings it makes him hard to guard.

Peja is the upgrade to Ruby Klay. He has the 3PT plays and has high end shooting stats. He has one job and he excells at it - there is not much left to say. I've boosted him with a diamond shoe to 99 contested 3 which makes him deadly on all light contested shots off screens. Also adding some speed seems important so he has quicker movement while running plays.

Melo was my first pick and the main reason I grinded to 1000. After trying the sapph I knew I had to go for the diamond version. This card is pure magic, probably the best card. Isolation, Post Game, 3s ,moving mids, finishing...he can do it all. Am on my way to second 12-0 and constantly dropping 20-30 points with this card.

Another card I can talk about is Diamond Charlie Scott, although I only had 4 games with him. He has better stats than Petrie (except 3s) but his shot release and dribbling animations are slower. Don't really know what to think of him yet, but he suprises with flashy dunk tendencies which will lead to windmill posterizers here and there. I'm probably sticking with Petrie, but will bring Scott in if I need a more defensive PG on the floor to close games out.

I finally earned another 60 tokens last night and made the upgrade from Petrie to Scott. I was considering B-Davis, but I'm pretty sure only 94 & Above guys get dual Takeovers so I went with Scott. He was incredible. He really is just everywhere on the floor. He is definitely not as quick as Petrie, but his moves are more effective for me. His first game I brought him off the bench and he put up 21p/8r/7a. I only shot one three with him, but with my coach and the diamond shoe I added, he's at 86 open 84 contested 89 off dribble. So the numbers are decent, I just gotta put more shots up, but one thing is, it's so easy to get all the way to the cup with him. His moves are slower, but more deliberate, I'd never triggered so many ankle breakers in a game, his change of direction moves are incredible. He also seems to be more active than Geoff. He gets a lot of steals and boards, which I love because he's great on the break as well.

How is that Peja on defense? I'm still running Steph & Klay as my starting back court, and I was looking to upgrade but Klay's lockdown defense is key to my team. Even if he doesn't score, he's gonna come through on D.

Agree with you on everything here. Petrie is by far the best amethyst. I got diamond Charlie Scott and was not impressed so got diamond Baron Davis and backed him up with Petrie rather than Scott. I have the same shoes on both Petrie and Melo that you do.

I prefer Camby to Eaton simply because Eaton moves at the speed of continental drift. And unless he's 2 inches from the rim, he can't score. Granted, not sure Camby can either but I seldom play through a center.

I took Peja with my first diamond reward to upgrade over Jerry Sloan and Eddie Jones at the 2. I was considering Paul Westphal to back him up when I get my next diamond. But also considering Willis Reed for PF because I have a huge hole there (starting Rashard at the 4 and backing up with Dirk, but may switch him and Melo around at the 3 and 4 after reading what you wrote)

Your team sounds a lot like mine though. You're right about Rudy. I just have no room for Rudy right now because I have Shane Battier backing up the 3. But I'm debating now if to reconstruct my bench from Petrie, Scott, Battier, Dirk, Oden to have Battier as the backup 2 and Rudy T as the backup 3. That would throw Charlie Scott out of the lineup, and I stupidly gave him both a diamond shoe and contract when I thought he was my saviour. Might still stick him down as the 11th man so he can get a little sweat during blowouts. That would be one less contract I'd have to worry about (all 6 of my diamonds have diamond contracts, so it's basically just the bench I have to replenish.)

If I had to rank the amethysts I'd go Petrie, Rudy T, Brandon, Dirk, Johnny Moore, Nance, Sloan, Bibby, Bridgeman, Starbury.

I took Moore last though and was very surprised at how quick he is. Zips all around the court. Would be a great backup if he had the 3.

Interesting...well talking of being more active, Scott ist definitely the defensive harasser. He also is great going to the rim, but I'm not feeling his animations. His shot is on the slower end (especially if you compare to Davis) and his dribble animations don't seem to flow naturally for me. But I will give him more time. As I said I just had a few games with him yet.

Talking of Pejas defense, it's not exactly at where Klay is, but it's not far off. Take a look here: https://2kmtcentral.com/19/players/compare/8177/2338

Therefore he makes up with more speed, height to cover those minor defensive downgrades (I think mine has a diamond shoe with speed, shot contest, contested 3PT etc. so this helps in all needed categories)

I don't think I can replace him with Klay, but I definitely may replace him with Harden. Since I witched to Charlie Scott off the bench, I don't need Harden as a secondary ball-handler as much, My next pick will definitely be Peja.

I definitely would like to hear some impressions on that Willis Reed. I love undersized bigs but I have to see how they perform in game against real centers. I can't run him at the 4 because my lineup is dependent on the PF being able to knock down threes. I already kind of miss Eaton and he's only 5 inches taller than Camby. I don't know if I can deal with a 6'9 center. If he performs well, I'll be anxious to see the diamond Bill Russell they release this year. His cards have been way too limited for too long.
