The Lombardi Pursuit 2.0: A M18 Coaching Career Dynasty
Welcome again to my coach dynasty page for Madden 18! My previous coaching career dynasty went for 11 seasons and ended with a Super Bowl championship! An OC for 3 years, HC of the Chiefs for 6 (hovering around .500), then 1 miracle run season with the Bucs. I've played a handful of dynasties and other CFMs since and have decided to return to my favorite one. To begin my Franchise I will be starting off as an offensive coordinator for a team, rather than as a head coach or owner. I figure this will not only help keep my interest, but also add another challenge early on. As the OC I will have limited control over roster moves and have to adapt my gameplan accordingly. This time around, I'm going to follow the results of the NFL from the 2017 and current 2018 season. This means sim win/loss for all other games and recreating players from this years draft. If I do well enough and I can find myself as a head coach early on, taking over a struggling team or perhaps the team I start on. Struggle and that HC dream will have to wait a little longer, do bad enough maybe I'll have to change my dream from coach to GM. Who knows, only time will tell! Last time I only spent three years as an OC, excited to see how long it may take this time. Here are my settings, if anyone's interested: Roster - Default 75-man Preseason: I will use the default roster and edit it to reflect the breakout players (both drafted and undrafted). I'm also doing some universal edits, such as Tiered position ratings (to help seperate STUDS from JAGS), QB trait edits, lowered kicking accuracy, and other tinkering to get away from some of the inflated EA ratings. Big Decision
The Decision The Rams. The Jets. The Broncos. Of the ten teams looking for a new offensive coordinator, those were three that came calling. There was a fourth offer on the table, albeit not as an OC. But boy was it tempting. A chance to work with one of the greatest, if not the greatest, HC-QB duo's in the history of the NFL. And working along side a creative mind like McDaniels' would have been great. But there's no telling when I'd have another chance at being an OC and I feel now is my best shot. The Rams. The Jets. The Broncos. I couldn't choose. Luckily, or unluckily, the decision was made a little easier this morning when Mike McCoy was announced as the new OC in Denver. A logical choice with his connections and frankly a better fit. The Rams. The Jets. Down to two teams, with plenty of pros and plenty of cons. On one hand you have the bright lights of New York, a team where I feel I can be my most creative. HC Todd Bowles told me I'd have a good bit of control over the offensive unit. It's both exciting, but it also makes me nervous. On the other hand there is the Rams. They got a new HC in McVay who's work I've greatly appreciated. Sure I won't have as much freedom but to work along side of such a great offensive mind is an opportunity I can't pass... or can I? The Rams or the Jets, I need to make a decision soon. Denver already made their choice and I'm sure the Rams and Jets are ready to make there's. Gonna sleep on it and hopefully I'll know in the morning. |
Here We Go...
Jets Appoints New OC East Rutherford, NJ - Earlier today the New York Jets announced the hiring of their next offensive coordinator during its morning press conference. Johnson, who was pursued by several other teams this offseason, takes over an offense that ranked 26th in Total Offense on its way to a 5-11 record. When asked about his decision to be the Jets new OC, Johnson said that "Ultimately it came down to what was best for my family. I'm an east coast guy and that played a big part in my choice. I've been given an great opportunity from the Jets and I hope to make the best of it." |
2017 Offseason
Jets 2017 Offseason Recap Free Agency Notable Signings QB Josh McCown - It took a while but the Jets finally signed a QB. Perhaps not the guy many fans wanted, but he'll be the man under center come Week 1, unless the Jets make a move for QB in the Draft. CB Morriss Claiborne - Claiborne signed a one-year deal and will slot in at the #1 CB position. OT Kelvin Beachum - Beachum should help an OL is need of a starting tackle. K Chandler Cantanzaro - The Jets won't need to worry about drafting a Kicker after signing Cantanzaro. Notable Departures CB Darrelle Revis - The Jets are in rebuild mode and it starts with the release of one the biggest names to ever play for the team. C Nick Mangold - A tough decision, but a cap casualty that will give the Jets much needed cap space in the future. Mangold surely will be missed on the OL. WR Brandon Marshall - Another cap casualty and another notable veteran player leaving town. OT Ryan Clady - Clady did not live up to the expectations he had when signing with the Jets last year. K Nick Folk - New York will head in another direction at the kicker position. Around The League WR Alshon Jeffery - The top WR available signed a 1-year 'prove it' deal with the Eagles. DL Calais Campbell - Will take his talents east for the next four years after signing with the Jags. LB Dont'a Hightower - Lots of speculation on where he would land, ultimately he choose to stay in New England with a new 4-year deal. CB A.J. Bouye - Jags defense trending up with another big name signing, landing the #1 CB with on a 5-year deal. RB Adrian Peterson - The Saints must think Peterson still has it after giving him a 2-year deal. WR DeSean Jackson - The speedster joins his 3rd NFL team as he agrees to join the Bucs for three years. Godwin and Hansen both run great routes and have excellent hands. Kittle and McGuire are two other guys I'm happy fell to us. The TE class this year was very strong, and to get a guy who can catch and block like Kittle is always great. The RB class was equally strong this year and McGuire is someone our staff has had an eye on during this whole process. We're ecstatic to land him in the 6th, feels like the steal of the draft." |
