Why does 2k have some of the WORST sound effects in the history of sports games...

Im serious this is worse than Bird vs Jordan on floppy disk.

The sound effects are not only ANNOYING and in your face loud always.. they are inaccurate and unrealistic. The ball going into the hoop theres some decent sounds but a lot of bad ones. The ball hitting the rim half the time sounds like a small rock inside a pop can. The players screaming is always over the top and never fits the situation. I've seen the "aaandddddddddddddddddd Oooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ee!!!!!!!!!!!!" player yell on a dude who threw up some crazy shot in the paint and wasnt even touched.

By far the worst most disgusted aids diaper sound in the game is the backboard. Why does the backboard sound like two fatties bangin on a pull out sofa bed??? Or a broken down old beater car with its chassis falling apart? Ive never heard a backboard sound like that ever in my life and ive been around basketball for 26 years now.

Been saying this for years and don’t understand how it gets overlooked by song many. They made a big deal a few years ago about authentic arena sounds. I personally think the whole six engine should get built from scratch because it doesn’t like a realistic basketball

Hyperbole aside, the game does have some really bad sound effects that sound like they haven't been updated in years. Dunks still sound like a metal trash can.

Best audio they've ever had was probably 2k12 and 2k11.

This thread needs as much attention as the art details threads. I'm a huge sound guy and these issues have been persistent since the franchise started. From the crowd, to the net swish sound to the dunking (especially in the park).

I feel like the sound has just as much value as the art. The commentary is 10/10 but everything else in the sound department has been really lacking for years now.

the Lack of crowd immersion is the biggest flaw the series has suffered from. Certainly moreso next gen than previous. If you go back to 11, 12 and 13, the crowd seemed be perfectly in-tune with what was going on in the game, and was super loud and excited at the right moments and pin drop quiet when their home team was getting blown out. Also the PA music and announcer is stale beyond words. Also, the custom stadium sounds were also a great addition for the 360 and ps3 and is sadly been removed for next gen.

I think the audio mix (excluding game commentary which sound great) and user control could be expanded. Certain audio aspects should have separate volume sliders (ball bounce, shot clock, halftime/post game interview, etc). The current volume sliders don't offer enough flexibility for users who want to control the game sound. Other than that, I think the sound effects are effective and accurate in style and amplitude. Lastly, I think 2k has grouped too many audio elements into single sliders which forces users to settle with only two audio experiences, TV Broadcast or On Court.
