    Game breaking MyLeague bug/problem?

Every time I sim through a season of MyLeague, i encounter this same problem in every off season.

It seems like every team in the league somehow completely runs out of cap space and there’s no room left for anyone to sign players during free agency, so big name guys like Nikola Vucevic, Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram, etc. just sit in this free agency pool limbo for the entire season until next year when they MAYBE get signed by a team in free agency.

Anyone know how to fix this? Anyone else notice this? It’s really getting annoying and ruining the game for me. So many good players are basically just being removed from the league

Nothing but raising the inflation rate, which i don’t see how that could be causing the problem, but i’ll have to try simming a couple seasons with the inflation rate at default.

If that is what’s causing the problem, that’s pretty annoying that they have all of those salary cap settings in the game that can’t even be used.

MyLeague as a whole is pretty broken without severe manual intervention/slider changes. I just fix up all 30 teams each offseason with trades/signings. It's a huge effort but no real choice

Problem is there’s no cap room on any of the teams to sign new players. I don’t know why this is. Must be some type of bug because every team has like -50 million cap space.

Also, Double checked on this. Ran a sim with all of the settings at default and the same thing happened.

            Re: Game breaking MyLeague bug/problem?

I think the problem runs similar to what we see right now in the MLB. In 2K with default settings, players as a whole are asking for too much so after one year the inflation rate doesn't have enough time to catch up with player demands, so the players sit there because teams cant meet their demands.

Then, lets say you use a slider set like schnaidt's. That set works great for the first 5 or so years, but then with 2K's overrated draft classes, players reach their potentials too often so league-wide talent is overinflated and now teams cant meet player demands because there's too many good players.

So, to get past that you need good draft classes that have enough busts or players that just wont progress to their max, and you can do that by peak ages, injuries, or both. That gets everything working properly, but it becomes exponentially more difficult (which it should be) and either A) 2K just doesn't have enough time to fix it for whatever reason, or B) they choose not to because they fear making MyLeague realistic from the jump will scare some players away. *

Basically what it comes down to is, yes it sucks but it's difficult to make it realistic from the start because everyone has a different idea of what that is.
If you know what you want to fix and know how to fix it, it really doesn't take THAT much time. It sucks that we have to edit these things but thats probably why they gave us the customization tools, so that we can make things how we want it to be.

*Also, lets be honest, we simheads that want it realistic are more willing to put in the time to edit than casuals who dont care and just want to play out a season or two. So with that in mind, why cater to the group thats more likely to do it on their own anyways.

^ what he said but the problem with this when editing a draft class, it kills mostly all the immersion.

I have 80 rated players asking for 20+ mil a season that are about 23-25yrs old

There are some working on sliders to help this but there is only so much that they can do. It has to be addressed internally at 2k and well, seeing as its part of the "franchise" game mode, it more then likely won't be addressed at all

Any specific salary cap settings you’d recommend? Or do you have a link to Rashidi’s? I didn’t see his thread in the sliders forum

                    Re: Game breaking MyLeague bug/problem?

I haven't made it to the offseason yet in 2k19 but in the past the best way to fix good players left in the FA pool was with 30-team control and changing players positions.

So say you have Julius Randle. Change him to a PG, then sign him to a MLE or minimum, then change his position back. To keep it random I will identify all of the teams that could use him, then number the 1-10 (or whatever), then use random.org to choose which team he goes to. Another thing to consider is expansion. More teams = more players needed and more $$ available.

Obviously, these workarounds aren't ideal but at least it's better than good players sitting in the FA pool year-after-year

I meant Schnaidt, my bad lol. It was late and i was thinking about schnaidts sliders and rashidi's ratings and got the names flipped.

                        Re: Game breaking MyLeague bug/problem?

I manually handle most players 83 and above. Occassionally I'll let an 84 or 85 player hire free agency, but I just trade them to or from the teams I want them on. I manually extend guys coming off their rookie contracts if they're good and in good spirits with the team. I can't remember at the moment, but I either turn off or cap the salary cap at whatever it is the first season. I also edited the contract demands. A center like Dedmond should be asking for 5 or 6 million. Not 14 or 15. It takes some work, but its the only way to get any long term relatively realistic ML play.

Controlling all the teams....changing players positions to sign to lower contracts, etc.

This has been life for franchise mode players since its inception. No game has or has had a perfect franchise mode that perfectly replicates the sports progression, regression, free agency, draft, etc. The workarounds may be frustrating but it all comes down to how much a particular issue impacts your enjoyment of the mode as a whole. If an issue has a huge impact on your experience, and there is a way to fix it somewhat, then why wouldn't you?
