Re: mkharsh33 MLB The Show 19 - Directional All-Star Hitting / Meter Legend Pitching

I've played a few games using these sliders. I played countless games in MLBTS 18 using the base set. Little has changed in 19 from 18. The CPU power is stronger this year (IMO). The pitch speed is noticeably faster in 19 than 18. I may lower the outfield catching errors from 6 to 5, but can't quite determine that yet - they have undoubtedly made that a bit harder this year (though they took out the option for the level you play on).

I know these are a bit unorthodox...and they're not for everyone. But the sim factor is a TON of fun! I am a long-time MLB 2K baseball player from the 360, so I started with that interface as that's what I had grown comfortable playing for many years. If this set isn't for you, there are other great slider creators who will provide something you'll enjoy.

I want the pitching to be a challenge. I recognize the user stamina at 4 might be a head-scratcher to some, but starters are going fewer innings, and with the lowered stamina it also adds a difficulty to nailing your spots later in the game, forcing you to go to your bullpen.

Even with the user hitting sliders lowered out to zero, I've actually had some lengthy at-bats in 19, including a 12 pitch at-bat with Jose Ramirez of the Indians.

Feedback is appreciated! Thanks! And remember - just have fun...it's still a game.

I also had a 12 pitch AB with Pedroia and then a 8 pitch AB with him his next AB.

I'm about to do up a boxscore of my first game man I'll post it soon.

I was just going to send you a note that I decided to go ahead and put a "version 1" up of this set - though I truly doubt anything will change.

I had cpu pitcher consistency at 4 but couldn't get much offense going. I put it at 2 and the pitcher had a number of wild pitches. At 3, it seemed to level out and play really nice.

I also am not sure about the cpu outfield errors. I'm going to leave them at 6 for now. At 5 I never had any troubles, so I think 6 will make us focus in a bit more.

Right out of the gate, in the 6 games I played, I really LOVED the way these feel. 19 plays so close to 18 that there's little to change. Pitch speeds are faster, so I just compensated down from 8 (in 18) to 7 (in 19). When I lowered to 6, it felt too easy to get hits.

Any feedback from you is much appreciated as I know you've invested a good deal into this set. Really appreciate it!

I always use Classic pitching, can’t play with anything else.

I can’t imagine I would need to change any sliders using Classic?

Honestly man you'd have to play and see. I could see you possibly having to raise control nor consistency a click as classic can get wild sometimes.

A few things I'm seeing that are a bit concerning and might need changed:

                        - pitch speeds are just too fast. Not only for hitting, but because of the fielding. I'm seeing too many DOUBLE PLAYS being hit into. What that means is 2 things: 1) pitch speed is going to need toned down because balls are coming off the bat too hard. (I canNOT lower the human solid hits slider because then the balls are a lot of infield pop ups. Again, this is plug one hole, but then create 3 more - so caution has to be used because each of these sliders has a rationale behind them). 2) I think the fielding speed will need lowered by 1...

                        - Considering lowering fielding reactions down to 4 (from 5) - what I'm seeing this year is a lack of doubles, especially down the lines. I think 2 things are happening: 1) outfield throw power... I've noticed guys have much stronger arms this year. And the logic of baserunning from the AI seems to be a lack of taking chances of balls down the lines / in the corners because of getting thrown out. I TRIED lowering the arm strength slider - doesn't work because now guys throw like elementary kids. So that needs to stay put. 2) fielder reaction speeds are just too fast. So if those slow down a touch it might help.

                        - I can't seem to nail down CPU hit power - at 7 they seem too strong - every mistake gets crushed. At 6, they just don't seem to be strong enough. BUT, maybe by lowering pitch speed and leaving CPU hit power at 7 this MIGHT work...

                        - I'm struggling to hit any HR's as a user - I played an online vs. game last night and hit one, but clearly the pitch speed lowered (default, I believe) had something to do with that. So the fix below might help with this.

So from the original set I'm looking at a few small things (but not updated in the OP):

                        - lower CPU hit timing down from 4 to 3
                        - raise CPU pitcher consistency from 3 to 4 (slightly too many wild pitches / passed balls)
                        - lower fastball pitch speed from 7 to 6
                        - lower offspeed pitch speed from 7 to 6 (but I'm still not sure on this)
                        - lower fielder reaction speed from 5 to 4
                        - lower fielder arm strength outfield from 5 to 4

                          VERSION 2.0 NOW UP - Page 1 / Post 1

                          Wednesday, March 27 - 2:55 pm

All new updates are in Bold/Red with the previous slider noted.

After a good deal of testing all day, I really love how these are now playing. More variety. Seeing runners now take doubles (by raising base runner speed).

Every change is done for a reason - the most notable: pitch speeds back to default. If you need them faster, then raise them. But I am loving how they play. I can see the ball a bit better - I still strike out, but I think the game is made to be played with the pitch speeds on default. The framerate stuff I was seeing before now is NOT an issue.

Again, these are a guide - tweak to your likes. Remember: have FUN with this, guys! It's still a game...

Going to try some of these sliders out because man every ball I hit seem to go directly to an outfielder. Even the ones slightly off from them they always run down. It is like this year the ball hangs in the air a long time or they simply run too fast. Double plays and grounding out to second base was definitely a problem for me too. Played 5 games and only hit 2 HRs. CPU hit 10 on me. So yeah going to try some of these sliders out.

Just to put this in there Harsh. The pitch speed slider only affects how fast the pitch appears to be coming in. To actually change pitch speeds you'd need roster edits. The pitch speed sliders only affect your ability to time the swing nothing else.
