Baserunners diving back or freezing on hits?

This was a problem last year too, and I'm not sure if it's just DD. I have baserunning on assist. But some hits that will easily be base hits or into the gap, the baserunner on 1st will freeze or even dive back to 1st like it's a line drive that will be caught. I've had runners thrown out at 2nd on base hits because of this. Still annoying that this is still happening this year. I shouldn't have to manually advance runners every time on base hits, much less have runners be thrown out at 2nd because of it.

you should really get video of this happening then post as a bug and see if this actually is a bug.

I have auto baserunning on and it is the same thing. It is pretty constant and worse than last year. Happening on hits that have no chance of being caught. Runners slowing at second and can't make it to third even though they should make it easily. I have noticed that less people are going overall where last year the computer ran in to outs all the time. Now it seems to have swung too far the other way. Need a middle ground.

Pretty sure they did this last year to stop some of the baserunning cheese, but it can be pretty awful, especially when youre playing offline.

Having guys on second and lining base hits up the middle just to have your guy dive back into second for no reason and costing you a run is pretty damn annoying.

How do you turn auto baserunning off? I hate when my guys just decide to steal on their own

You can only do it from the settings in the main menu.

Why do I need a video of it to prove it's a bug? Either they programmed the runners to be complete idiots, or it's a bug. Pretty simple. I've posted videos on here in the past of idiotic things the CPU does and there's always someone that says I'm doing something wrong, when I've been playing this game for years.

Exactly. But I play offline about 99% of the time. What exactly does having the baserunners act like idiots accomplish?

Play a few games online and deal with the endless amounts of baserunning cheese because of terrible animations, then youll get it. Shouldnt apply to games vs cpu though.

They've fixed 95% of the issues from last year.

I've played about 30 games online and I've once had an issue with base running that wasn't my fault.

Many times players have to freeze between 1-2 if the ball is in the air... but that's real baseball. And if you want to take the gamble before the ball is down, push the R1 button. Players will freeze on liners as well, like your taught to when you're 10 and learn to play baseball.

It's funny, you don't see anyone complaining about the running diving back into the bag when the liner is caught (and they're saved from being doubled off)... only when it goes through.

The problem is, these guys are diving back to bags or freezing on balls in the gap or easy base hits, not even near a fielder. Sure, they will freeze when they are supposed to on balls that could be caught. But when they dive back and freeze on EASY base hits and get thrown out at 2nd base, you have a problem. And you said you don't see anyone complaining? Yet I am and many others are... just because you haven't experienced it for yourself yet doesn't mean it's not happening, so don't be a jerk. Thanks.

well you need constructed info and proof that it is a bug and typically a "Bug" can be repeated over and over.

Since the last update outfielders are freezing for a few seconds before you can take control of them to field fly balls. I can’t tellyou how many RS and Event games this is costing me.

You guys really want me to post a video? I just recorded one where my guy on second dove back to 2nd base ON A GROUND BALL UP THE MIDDLE. Didn't score as a result. Pissing me off.

It’s in the moments too. When you just control 1 batter and need total bases often times you drill one to the wall in the gap and the CPU runner on first turns to round second then dives back forcing me to stay at first. They could easily score or at least make it to third standing
