    Exchange vs. Sell Now?

I'm new to DD, this is really the first time I've really attempted to get into a sports card game. To give myself incentive to give it a fair shake, I made it my goal to complete a Braves/Astros/LSU alum collection, in that order.

I'm currently only missing Freeman and Acuna from the live series, but you could have guessed that. As it stands now after buying 20something players, I can probably just pick up Acuna with a little grinding in conquest alone, but I'd really rather not drop 20 bucks for Freeman.

I've been able to fill out the starter collections pretty easily due to the number of Braves/Astros/LSU players I have, but I also have a metric ton of commons and bronzes. I flipped the golds I could flip that don't flip my criteria, so now I'm forced to make a decision. What nets me more, flipping the cards or exchanging them and then flipping that exchange card?

As of now I'm thinking of exchanging the common and bronzes and selling the silvers and golds. Is this the right strategy?

It’s a personal decision. Last year I exchanged a lot of Silvers for Golds but this year most Golds are barely selling for 1200 stubs while many Silvers are still going 500-1000. I’ve been selling those on the market and gambling with the exchange using Silvers that go for under 500

I've found that using the "exchange" doesn't do much in terms of bettering my team or the cards I have. I prefer to do the collection, getting stubs and XP for keeping the common and bronze cards. If you look in the collection tab, you'll find maybe 7 different ones... The first one is easily finished... The live series will give you bonuses for having X amount of players from each team and in free agency (just need to scroll down a bit) and the created players will reward you for having silver and gold players of certain positions.

For me personally, that'd be the route to take. But to each their own. Only downside to the collection part, is once a card is collected, it can no longer be sold or exchanged, unless you have a duplicate card of the same player.

        Re: Exchange vs. Sell Now?

I'm relatively new like the OP (go Braves!) and figured out Collections the hard way by trial and error. I did the exchange/upgrades early and came to realize I killed my inventory for A.J. Pollock, who at the time was a 4th OF for me (think he got 1 AB when I was playing).

Shortly thereafter, I discovered the team collections (they are kinda hidden with the 10 panels for Live Series looking like the entire menu) and racked up a ton of stubs just collecting 10 guys per team.

I may do some math and see if I can collect up to 20 or 30 guys for a few teams, and whether or not that would be a worthwhile investment. Did so with MLB and MiLB stadiums-- had about half, spent about 250 to close out MiLB and probably about 1000 to finish MLB, and reaped Stub and XP benefits from those.

Early on you can do the random collections like the CAP stuff and farm XP pretty fast. I did that and it helped me jump levels on top of everything else.

If you collect players on the team page you can still exchange them in the team affinity. That's how I did the Mets one. I was able to unlock Jose Reyes super quick by just exchanging players and building an all Mets team playing the conquest mode.

Yeah this bugs me. I got into wanting to do collections this year but I wish we could undo them once they're done because I'll never be able to do exchanges this year if I'm committing to collections. Are we sure there's nothing that can be done with a collected card later? It just feels weird that one feature is pushing me to keep every card while another is pushing me to get rid of most cards. I guess it's a pick your poison thing but it sucks.

You know what is weird? That completing a live series collection for a team doesn't give you progress on team affinity for that team. You would think it does.
