Bellator Fighters

The simple answer is because the UFC said so...but why are some former UFC fighters who are now in Bellator in the game, but others removed?

Would it be possible to get guys like Mousasi, Bader, Rory and Bendo back?

Just feel like it would be great for the overall roster if those guys came back. I definitely get why they got removed, but once some guys were added back, it seems arbitrary that everyone isn't in.

Not having Rory and Gegard is a huge bummer.

Losing Machida for UFC 4 is gonna suuuuck too.

Hopefully EA can keep them in via "legacy" contracts, where the fighters agreed to be in the official UFC video game. At least, if they work that way.

My understanding is that outside of special cases like Brock Lesnar, they sign their likeness rights over forever the moment they sign with the UFC.

So in theory, they don't have a legal reason to not include them forever. Once they added Tito Ortiz, Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, I also became very confused what the promotional reason was, since I just assumed they didn't want to give shine to Bellator fighters.

I don't think anyone is in the market to make this game because the EA Sports game that didn't have a UFC license didn't sell so well.

However, if you really wanted to crush Bellator's ability to have a marketable video game, using the fighter likeness rights you own from former UFC fighters would certainly be a cool way to do it.

There are very few homegrown Bellator fighters that could sell a video game and if most of the main stars are already in a UFC game with the ability to fight UFC fighters, that's gonna be hard for a competitor to overcome.
