Ha ha this makes me chuckle. My bro and I have been Madden gamers since the first one, he is now 46 and still plays this version on his Ps2. Keeps telling me it’s the best and he had no reason to move on. I do agree the options along with really great gameplay still set this one apart.

And how much of that is just nostalgia? Im guessing you played it as a kid. And compared to the modern games, of course it's going to seem fantastic. But I just tried playing it today and im about to uninstall it now. I just couldnt really get into the normal gameplay, a bit stiff and janky, buttons and controls being different. But hey! that isnt fair, not the games fault really. So I thought id get into the groove of it by playing superstar mode, by focusing on just one position... ohh turns out that mode is complete garbage; they actually did a single player focus mode without a player lock hahahaha

LOL wut? the PS2 Madden was anything but stiff.

Yes controls are different, you get used to it. I loved the PS2 superstar it had flaws but you had 3 practices a week, gameplans which would tell you plays in the game, agents, movie roles, press conferences. It was just really immersive even if not perfect

hey man, great to hear! PS2 madden is the absolute best. Would you or your bro be interesred in still gaming madden 08 for ps2 online vs others? Theres a community of us on discord who game it on PC but one can easily use a ps2 controller. Many of us are ex PS2-ers. Let me know

But why, after Madden 04, did player models have to get stiffer and brick like bodies?

They moved smoother in the 02 to 04 maddens.

Footballidiots. Guys who use the pc madden 08 and mod it for 1970s nfl seasons, are still going strong it appears.

If 08 is bad, what's better? Most ps3 versions suck entirely. Players get run into and fall like deflated balloons in M15. The player models are just horrible stick figure robots in most all maddens. And of course they destroyed franchise for MUT.

Being only the player in career mode...well, that's never really worked anyway. Getting stuck with horrible plays at running back .wide receiver, running routes for nothing lol.

I like it better than 06. I hate the cone. You couldn't use precision passing in 06, unless you turned cone on. I turned cone off in 06 and it seems I couldn't complete a pass in a game at all (this was 2 weeks ago) so I returned that game for ps3 nba 2k 11,Jordan. I have 12, that I still like better.

I just got this game for the PC. I headed over to Football Idiots and downloaded rosters from the 1995 and 1996 seasons and I love it. I'm an old head and love the fact that 2002-2012 was the ERA for the Franchise Mode player. So, even if the gameplay is not modern, it still scratches the itch I have for Franchise Mode play. The fact that there are mods out there for this game is even better. I mean they have the Senior Bowl that's playable so that you can scout draftee's for crying out loud lol.
