Yes. They did this with live 10 when elite 11 was cancelled.

The devs have posted a ton of motion capture clips for Live 20 and other hints on IG. It’s definitely coming and they are definitely up to something.

What if Live 20 was a huge DLC patch that gave us the new career and other stuff? Just a guess....

I continue to play 2k because of the rosters being updated. So now I will go back to live and have fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed or get canceled. While this is great that they updated rosters. The fact that they have been radio silent, it leaves a lot of doubt about this year.
