What exactly does ‘spotlight receiver’ do?

Does it effect the entire defense or just the selected player that you are using on defense? Does it work only for zone, or does it work for man as well? Does it even work at all?

My understanding is that doing this makes players in zone coverage key on that player more than they usually would.

It is *supposed* to be a feature where defenders will pay attention to a specified receiver... not necessarily double team him but maybe cheat towards that defender in zone coverage.

I say *supposed* because I am not really sure if it works the way it is advertised.

It gives you a false sense of security is what it does lol.

Normally the situation I would use it in is against a TE that is causing problems, but I’ve found that manually controlling the nearest underneath defender works far better

Lol I figured this is the case. I’ve been using it every play for five years but I’m not sure it even works
