    Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

The sliders above are for testing purposes and I used my set from last year as a baseline to get started.

So far the game feels/flows pretty good

Please provide feedback & results so we can begin refining these with any necessary adjustments

      Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

If your slider set is meant to be realistic, you're almost there.

      -Penalties are absurdly common.
-Shots are like 50 per team by the end of the game.

I notice when I play realistic hockey with more dumps, cycles, safe plays and selective with my shots - I get shot totals in the 30-38 range

When I play more wide open and run & gun type hockey - the shots end up getting a little high

These are early sliders and an easy fix if shot totals are too high is to knock down the period length....but I like to try to play as long of periods as possible without compromising the stats

Please feel free to post results and make any recommendations, even if you want to tweak on your own and test something - let me know

Major update to the sliders in post #1 of the thread

          * Dropped from Superstar to All-Star difficulty
          * Several tweaks to various settings

I'm playing Boston (me) @ Florida (cpu) and will post a boxscore when finished

            Testing

            Exhibition Game
            Boston Bruins @ Florida Panthers

1st Period - Florida out-shot Boston 14-8 in the opening period but there was no scoring as Rask and Bobrovsky were both sharp through 20 minutes of play.

2nd Period - Florida opened the scoring 3:20 in to the 2nd period when they came through the neutral zone with speed and Trochek moved the puck to Hoffman in the high slot who fired a quick shot past Rask to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The play was pretty even throughout the 2nd period with Boston generating some excellent chances but they could not get the puck past Bobrovsky and the score remained 1-0. The Panthers went on the powerplay when Marchand was called for slashing late in the period and Florida would cash in when Yandle prevented a clearing attempt by Carlo and played the puck down the wall to Evgeni Dadonov who snapped a wrist shot top corner from just below the faceoff dot to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead with 1:02 remaining in the period. The 2nd period would end with Florida leading 2-0 and holding a 28-23 edge in shots.

3rd Period - The Bruins would get their first PP opportunity when Hoffman was called for hooking with 17:08 to play. Boston had some good looks but could not cash in on the PP and the score remained 2-0. Florida would score a back breaker midway through the period when Jonathan Huberdeau collected a rebound on the door step and slid the puck past Rask who was down on the ice and couldn't dive across and it was 3-0 Panthers with 10:55 remaining. The Bruins would get shutout as Bobrovsky was stellar in the Florida net and the game would end with the Panthers winning by a score of 3-0

            * Game played using the updated sliders in post #1 of thread

            * Liking the feel/flow on All-Star better than Superstar difficulty

            * These sliders are not final, still plenty of testing to do

            * Please test and share feedback/results so we can fine tune things

            * I think I'm going to fire up a testing franchise with another team besides the Bruins and do some testing. Won't start my Bruins franchise until the real NHL regular season gets going and the sliders are ready

              Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

I fired up a Bruins Franchise for testing purposes

              Franchise Testing

              Game #1 of Season
              Boston Bruins @ Dallas Stars

1st Period - The Bruins were shorthanded a couple times late in the period and another penalty would give Dallas a two man advantage and the Stars would cash in on the PP when Radulov scored off a rebound with 1:40 left in the period to make it 1-0. Boston answered in the closing seconds of the period when Torey Krug fired a long pass to Charlie Coyle who had a step on his defender and snapped off a shot that went right over the shoulder of Khudobin and under the bar for a gorgeous goal to tie the score 1-1. Dallas had a 15-12 edge in shots after the 1st period

2nd Period - The Bruins scored just 3:17 into the 2nd period when Brett Ritchie used his long reach to get the puck outside against a defender and passed back to Matt Grzelcyk who was trailing the play beyond the top of the circles and Grzelcyk ripped a one timer that rang in off the far post for the goal to put Boston up 2-1. Dallas answered back less than a minute later when Charlie McAvoy turned the puck over in his own end and Rask would deny Cogliano but the rebound went right to Radek Faksa who fired it into the open net to tie the score 2-2. The Stars scored again a couple minutes later when Seguin collected a loose puck in the offensive zone and found Radulov all alone in the slot for his 2nd goal of the game putting Dallas up 3-2. The score remained 3-2 until the closing seconds of the period as Boston had possession in the offensive zone and Patrice Bergeron came off the side boards and found Zdeno Chara up top and his slap shot beat Khudobin through a screen to tie the game 3-3 with 0:17 to play in the period. The 2nd period came to an end with the score all tied up 3-3 and the shots were 30-25 in favor of the Bruins

3rd Period - The 3rd period would begin with the score tied 3-3 and Boston would have the play the final 20 minutes with 5 D-men as Matt Grzelcyk was banged up late in the 2nd period and unable to come out for the 3rd period. The early stages of the 3rd period were pretty quiet as both teams were playing cautious and making smart, safe decisions with the puck. Dallas would get a big PP opportunity when Connor Clifton was whistled for holding with 9:58 remaining. The Bruins would kill off the Stars PP and get back to even strength with just under 8:00 to play. The Stars would get the go ahead goal when Sekera played the puck down low in the corner to Faksa who one touched a pass to Joe Pavelski in the high slot for a one timer to give Dallas a 3-2 lead with 6:32 remaining. The Bruins were pressing for the tying goal and generating lots of pressure as the clock ticked down and they would get Rask to the bench for the extra attacker in the final minute but Dallas would hang on for a 4-3 victory

              * The Bruins drop a thriller 4-3 to open the season

              * Shots were 41-38 in favor of Boston, I want to play a few more games but may reduce the period length by 1 minute which will help shave down the number of shots. I can live with high 30's and low 40's as long as the shots don't start approaching 50 every other game

              * Radulov scored a pair of goals to lead the way for Dallas

              * Boston got goals from Coyle, Grzelcyk and Chara

              * Matt Grzelcyk was injured in the 2nd period for Boston and will be out for a week or so with a strained hamstring. Boston will call up 20 year old Urho Vaakanainen to take Grzelcyk spot ont he blue line

              * Sliders are playing great....just need to play a stretch of games and fine tune at this point

Did you originally have your Attribute Effects higher than 5, or am I thinking of someone else's?

                  Franchise Testing

                  Game #2 of Season
                  Boston Bruins (0-1-0) @ Arizona Coyotes (1-0-0)

1st Period - Boston would open the scoring just under 7:00 in when Backes and Heinen came up ice on an odd man rush and Heinen would finish off a perfectly executed 2 on 1 to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Arizona went on the PP less than a minute later as Kuraly went off for hooking and the Coyotes would cash in as Rask stopped a shot from Stepan but Christian Dvorak was at the far post and scored on the rebound to tie the game 1-1 with 10:58 left in the period. The 1st period would end with the score tied 1-1 and shots 11-8 in favor of Boston

2nd Period - Arizona had the better chances early in the 2nd period but Rask would come up with some key saves to keep the score tied 1-1. Boston would go on the PP midway through the period when Hinostroza was called for hooking. The Bruins would score on the man advantage as they moved the puck around nicely and Marchand would curl off the wall to high slot and snap a wrist shot top corner glove side past Raanta to give Boston a 2-1 lead with 8:34 to play in the period. The Bruins took another poorly time penalty right after scoring and the Coyotes would even things up on the ensuing PP with Chara in the box for tripping as Dvorak set up Michael Grabner with a nice pass for the back door tip in and the score was tied 2-2 with 6:52 remaining in the period. Arizona would capitalize on a bad turnover in the defensive zone by Connor Clifton and Bennett would find Lawson Crouse cross ice for a one time that broke through Rask for a goal to put the Coyotes up 3-2 with 2:21 left in the period. The 2nd period would end with the Coyotes leading 3-2 and the Bruins holding a 24-20 edge in shots

3rd Period - The Bruins came out flying on the opening shift of the 3rd period and Marchand would score his 2nd goal of the game just 58 seconds in as he made a nice move on the rush to create a chance and beat Raanta to tie the score 3-3 with 19:02 left. Arizona answered right back as Vinnie Hinostroza scored on a shot that Rask would like to have back and the Coyotes took a 4-3 lead with 17:42 remaining. The Bruins would go on a 4 minute powerplay with 15:05 remaining when Schmatz was called for a high sticking double minor and Boston wasted no time as Krejci set up behind the net and found Danton Heinen in the slot for a one timer to tie the score at 4-4 with 14:54 left. Arizona would kill off the remainder of the penalty to Schmaltz and get back to even strength as we approached the midway mark of what has been a wild 3rd period. Raanta came up with his biggest stop of the game when he denied Chris Wagner on a breakaway bid with just over 7:00 to play and the score remained tied at 4-4. The clock would tick down to the final minutes and Sean Kuraly would get called for holding with 2:17 remaining to put the Coyotes on the PP with a golden opportunity to snap the tie. The Bruins were doing a good job on the kill before David Backes went for a big hit and was given a major penalty for charging and a game misconduct putting Arizona on a 5 on 3 advantage with 1:21 left in regulation. Boston would survive and earn a point as the 3rd period would come to an end with the score tied 4-4 and we would head to OT. Boston out-shot Arizona 35-29 through 3 periods

OT - The Coyotes still had 3:39 left on the PP to begin OT as they skated 4 on 3. Rask was standing on his head early in OT as the Coyotes had tremendous pressure. The Bruins were 23 seconds away from getting back to even strength when Nick Schmaltz was stopped by Rask but Schmaltz collected his own rebound and stuffed it in for the game winner to give the Coyotes a 5-4 OT victory with 1:44 left in OT

                  * This was a great game with a wild 3rd period as the Bruins fall to 0-1-1 to begin the season

                  * Brad Marchand and Danton Heinen each scored a pair of goals for Boston

                  * Urho Vaakanainen stepped into the Boston lineup with Matt Grzelcyk out due to injury and Vaakanainen picked up 3 assists in the game

                  * The Bruins are 0-1-1 on the season and will continue this season opening road trip in Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights in their next game

                    Franchise Testing

                    Game #3 of Season
Boston Bruins (0-1-1) @ Vegas Golden Kinghts (0-1-1)

1st Period - The Bruins had an early PP opportunity and David Krejci would find Charlie Coyle at the far post for a beautiful goal to open the scoring at 4:28 of the 1st period. The score remained 1-0 until late in the period when there was a faceoff to the right of the Vegas net and the puck would take a bounce off the faceoff right to Brad Marchand who dashed to the front of the net and lifted a backhand over Fleury for an unassisted goal to give Boston a 2-0 lead with 5:49 to play in the period. The Golden Knights would come right back and get on the board less than a minute later when a shot from Nosek was going wide but the puck bounced off the leg of William Carrier and into the net to make it a 2-1 game with 5:13 left in the period. The 1st period would end with the Bruins leading 2-1 and out-shooting Vegas 11-7

2nd Period - The Bruins were controlling play in the early stages of the 2nd period but could not increase their lead as Fleury was sharp in the Vegas net. The Golden Knights would start to generate some offensive pressure midway through the period and Paul Stastny would beat Rask on a one timer to tie the score 2-2 with 8:09 left in the period. The Bruins would take the lead back a few minutes later when Marchand entered the zone with speed and fired a cross ice pass to David Pastrnak who fired a rocket past Fleury to give Boston a 3-2 lead with 5:40 remaining in the period. The 2nd period would end with Boston leading 3-2 and holding a 25-12 edge in shots on goal

3rd Period - Vegas would get a PP opportunity 1:13 into the 3rd period when Vaakanainen went off for tripping but they were unable to capitalize as the Bruins PK unit did a great job. The Knights would get the equalizer a couple minutes later as Boston coughed the puck up in their own end and Marchessault found Mark Stone alone in front for a goal to tie the score at 3-3 with 15:02 remaining. The Golden Knights had momentum and Tuukka Rask was under siege for a stretch but came up with several big stops to keep the game tied. The clock would tick down under 5:00 to play and Brandon Carlo was called for tripping to put Vegas on a PP with 2:41 remaining and the score still tied 3-3. The bruins would come up with a huge penalty kill and the 3rd period would end with the score tied 3-3 and the game headed to OT

OT - The teams would skate 3 on 3 to begin OT and the teams would trade scoring chances early before the Golden Knights would win at 3:25 of OT when Pacioretty collected a rebound and beat Rask who could not dive across the crease in time for the game winner

                    * Sliders are playing great - will play a few more "test franchise" games and if I don't see the need for any major changes....I will start my real franchise

                      Franchise Testing

                      Game #4 of Season
                      Boston Bruins (0-1-2) @ Colorado Avalanche (1-1-0)

1st Period - Boston opened the scoring just over 4:00 in when Chris Wagner muscled Zadorov off the puck behind the net and beat Grubauer with a wrap around for an unassisted goal to make it 1-0. The Bruins would put together a solid 1st period and would go to the intermission with 13-11 edge in shots and a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes

2nd Period - The Bruins would extend their lead just 26 seconds into the 2nd period as Pastrnak came across the blue line with speed on the rush and found Bergeron heading towards the net and Bergeron made a nifty move to freeze Grubauer and scored to make it 2-0. The Avalanche had some quality chances in the 2nd period but Halak was excellent in the Boston net and the 2nd period would come to an end with Boston leading 2-0 and the shots even at 24-24

3rd Period - The Bruins entered the 3rd period with a 2-0 lead and were looking to finish off a solid 60 minute effort and pick up their first win of the season. The play was pretty even in the early stages of the 3rd period but there was no scoring and the score remained 2-0 as the clock ticked under 10:00 to play. The Bruins would score the back breaker with 7:04 remaining when Wagner set up Kuraly for a scoring chance and Joakim Nordstrom would gather the rebound after Grubauer made the save and Nordstrom put the puck in on the backhand to give the Bruins a commanding 3-0 lead. Boston would finish strong on their way to a 3-0 shutout win in Colorado

                      * The Bruins win the final game of this 4 game season opening road trip 3-0 over the Avalanche

                      * Jaroslav Halak made his first start of the season and turned in a 34 save shutout performance

                      * The Bruins 4th line had a big night as Chris Wagner and Joakim Nordstrom each scored goals

                      * Matt Grzelcyk returned to the lineup after missing a couple games with a hamstring injury and re-aggravated it in the 3rd period. Urho Vaakanainen will get back in the lineup as Grzelcyk will miss time again

                      * The Bruins will travel to Boston for their next game in their home opener against the New Jersey Devils

                        Franchise Testing

                        Game #5 of Season
New Jersey Devils (3-1-0) @ Boston Bruins (1-1-2)

1st Period - The Devils came out flying and had some scoring chances in the opening minutes but Tuukka Rask was sharp early in the 1st period. Boston appeared to open the scoring when Sean Kuraly deflected a point shot by Carlo past Cory Schneider with just under 9:00 left in the period but the referee immediately waived off the goal and video review confirmed that Kuraly's stick was above the crossbar on the redirect and the score remained 0-0. Karson Kuhlman was rocked on an open ice it by PK Subban with 7:00 to play in the period leaving Boston with 11 forwards as Kuhlman had to be helped down the tunnel with an apparent injury. The 1st period was scoreless New Jersey out-shot Boston 14-12 in the period.

2nd Period - The Devils began the 2nd period with 1:46 of PP time carrying over on a tripping call to Vaakanainen but Boston would kill it off and get back to even strength. The Bruins would open the scoring when Bergeron collected a loose puck at center ice and came in on an odd man rush and delivered a beautiful saucer pass over the stick of a defender to Marchand who beat Schneider for the goal to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead with 12:17 left in the period. Danton Heinen was called for tripping to put NJ on the PP with just over 6:00 left the period but Boston would kill it off. The 2nd period would end with the Bruins holding a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of play and the shots all even at 23-23

3rd Period - The Devils were buzzing the Bruins net in the opening minutes of the 3rd period and Jack Hughes had a glorious chance but Rask came up with a huge pad save going post to post to rob Hughes and keep it a 1-0 game. The teams traded some high quality scoring chances as we neared the midway mark of the 3rd period but Schneider and Rask continued their strong play in the nets and the clock would tick under 10:00 to play with the Bruins still leading 1-0. Jack Hughes used his speed to draw a penalty as he was tripped by Urho Vaakanainen give New Jersey a crucial PP opportunity with 8:01 remaining as they look for the equalizer. The Bruins were flirting with disaster as Joakim Nordstrom was called for hooking off the ensuing faceoff just 5 seconds into the PP and suddenly the Devils would have 1:55 of 5 on 3 PP time with 7:56 remaining in the 3rd period. The Devils would make the Bruins pay on the two man advantage as they set up in the zone and Vatanen would put a shot on net that was stopped by Rask but Nico Hischier was able to jam it past Rask in a net front scrum for a huge goal to tie the game 1-1 with 7:10 to play and the Devils would still have over a minute of PP time. The Bruins PK unit would survive the remaining time on the penalty kill and Boston would return to even strength with 5:55 left in regulation and the score tied 1-1. The Bruins would answer less than a minute after returning to even strength on a tremendous individual effort by Jake Debrusk who came flying up the wing against PK Subban and Debrusk used his speed to get to the outside and protect the puck as he cut towards the net and beat Schneider just inside the far post for his 1st goal of the season to put Boston up 2-1 with 5:24 remaining. Pavel Zacha had a chance to tie the game but Rask would make the save and freeze the puck with 2:51 to play and Boston would use their timeout to get fresh legs and strategize for the final minutes. The Bruins were content making safe plays and chipping the puck down to the Devils end of the ice as the clock ticked under 1:00 to play. New Jersey would get Schneider to the bench for the extra attacker with 0:50 remaining. The Devils were applying pressure in the offensive and came close to tying the game when they worked the puck to Miles Wood for a one timer that had Rask beat but the puck rang off the post with under 30 seconds to play. The Bruins would put the game away as Chara collected the loose puck and passed to Pastrnak who chipped it to Brad Marchand who buried the empty net goal to make it 3-1 with 0:16 left.

                        * The Bruins win their home opener in a thriller as they beat the Devils 3-1 at TD Garden

                        * Jake Debrusk scored the game winner with 5:24 to play

                        * Brad Marchand scored a pair of goals and leads the Bruins with 5 goals in 5 games

                        * Tuukka Rask had his best game of the season as he stopped 33 of 34 shots

                        * Karson Kuhlman was injured on a big hit from PK Subban in the 1st period and left the game but avoided serious injury and is available for the Bruins next game

                        * The Bruins will remain at home for their next game as the Anaheim Ducks come to TD Garden

                          Update
                          * Couple minor tweaks in post #1 of thread

                          * Sliders are playing great! I've provided 5 test franchise games with recaps & boxscore so you can see the results

                          * These sliders are designed for realistic hockey, not run & gun arcade hockey.

                          * You need to move to create passing lanes and flow, cycle the puck, dump in when appropriate, use board play, etc.

                          * Goal variety has been very good - scoring on well placed shots, deflections, odd man rushes, back door plays, rebounds, etc.

                          * Shot totals and penalties have been good

                          * Not sure if there is much more fine tuning to do - I'm pretty much just waiting for opening night and real life transactions and roster moves to be set before I start my real Bruins franchise

                          * Looking for a few guys to play a few games with these and post results / feedback

                            Game #6 of Season
                            Anaheim Ducks (3-2-0) @ Boston Bruins (2-1-2)

1st Period - Boston got on the board quickly on a great effort by Pastrnak who got in on the forecheck to create a turnover, gathered the loose puck and picked the top corner with a quick shot that beat Gibson to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead just 1:50 into the game. The Bruins would out-shoot the Ducks 11-6 in the 1st period but the Ducks played a very physical opening period out-hitting the Bruins 8-2

2nd Period - The Ducks came out strong to begin the 2nd period and scored just 1:13 into the period as Jakob Silfverberg scored on the rebound after Rask stopped Getzlaf to tie the score 1-1. Boston would retake the lead on the PP as they worked the puck around the zone and Torey Krug put a slap shot towards the net that was tipped by Brad Marchand through the legs of Gibson for a PP goal to give Boston a 2-1 lead with 11:34 to play in the period. Anaheim had some quality scoring chances as they were controlling play with around 5:00 to play in the period but Rask came up with a couple big saves to deny Ondrej Kase and Sam Steel and keep the score 2-1. The final minutes of the 2nd period would wind down and the Bruins would head to the 2nd intermission with a 2-1 lead and 22-17 edge in shots after 40 minutes

3rd Period - Rask and Gibson each made difficult stops in the opening minutes of the 3rd period keeping the score 2-1. The Ducks were starting to make a push as they trailed by a goal and would get a PP opportunity when Danton Heinen was called for tripping with 10:52 remaining. Anaheim would catch a huge break as Charlie McAvoy tried to clear the puck and sailed it over the glass for a delay of game penalty just 9 seconds into the PP and the Ducks would go on an extended 5 on 3 powerplay. The Ducks puck movement on the two man advantage had the Bruins scrambling around in their own end and Rakell would find Ryan Getzlaf in the slot and he would fire a wrist shot past Rask to tie the game 2-2 with 9:25 to play and Anaheim would still have 42 seconds of PP time remaining. The Bruins would get back to even strength with just over 8 minutes remaining and the score tied 2-2 as we were headed for what should be an exciting finish. Anaheim was buzzing as they had momentum after tying the game and they would go back on the PP when Brandon Carlo tripped Nick Ritchie with 6:51 to play. The Bruins penalty killers came up with a huge kill as they defended well and held Anaheim to just one shot on the PP as Boston returned to even strength with less than 5:00 to play. The Bruins continued to play an undisciplined 3rd period as Charlie Coyle was called for hooking to put Anaheim on a huge PP with just 2:34 remaining. The Ducks would cash in on the PP as Getzlaf came off the wall and sent a hard pass towards the front of the net where Adam Henrique was perfectly positioned with his stick angled on the ice and Henrique redirected the puck right over the shoulder of Rask for a beautiful goal to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead with 1:55 remaining. The Bruins would answer right back just 13 seconds later as David Krejci won the ensuing faceoff back to Connor Clifton who moved it up to Karson Kuhlman who chipped it to Krejci in the middle of the ice where Krejci made a great inside out move on Jacob Larsson and snapped a quick shot past Gibson for a huge goal to tie the score 3-3 with 1:42 left to play. Boston had a flurry of chances in the final 20 seconds of regulation but Gibson would keep the puck out and the game would head to OT with the score tied 3-3. Boston out-shot Anaheim 33-30 through 60 minutes of play

OT - The game would end on an absolutely thrilling sequence late in OT as Boston had the Ducks pinned in their own end where Krejci set up Charlie McAvoy for a one timer that beat Gibson but rang off the post and the rebound went right to Krejci who fired a cross ice pass to Marchand who had a wide open net for the game winner but Gibson made an incredible save diving across his crease to get a piece of Marchand's shot. The Ducks gained possession of the loos puck and raced up ice the other direction on an odd man rush and Henrique would feed Nick Ritchie who walked in and beat Rask upstairs with a move to the backhand for the game winner to give the Ducks a 4-3 OT

                            * What a game!!! This was by far the most exciting game I have played with this years version of NHL

                            * The Bruins fall to 2-1-3 on the season with their 3rd OT loss in 6 games

                            * The Bruins and Ducks traded late goals to send the game to OT where the Ducks prevailed 4-3

                            * Brad Marchand stays hot as he scores his 6th goal in 6 games

                            * Tuukka Rask deserved better as he played well all game before the Bruins took some bad penalties in the 3rd period that led to 2 PP goals for Anaheim that Rask had no chance of stopping

                            * The Bruins will remain at home with the Tampa Bay Lightning up next

                              Franchise Testing

                              Game #7 of Season
Tampa Bay Lightning (6-0-0) @ Boston Bruins (2-1-3)

1st Period - The teams traded early goals as Tyler Johnson opened the scoring for Tampa Bay at 3:54 of the 1st period and Brett Ritchie scored his first goal in a Bruins uniform less than 2 minutes later to tie the score at 1-1. The Bruins started to assert themselves and tilt the ice late in the period but the 1st period would come to an end with the score tied 1-1 and the shots 11-8 in favor of Boston

2nd Period - The physicality ramped up early in the 2nd period and Charlie Coyle dropped the gloves with Cedric Paquette after Coyle was given a 2 minute boarding minor to put Tampa on the PP. The Lightning were dominating for a stretch but the Bruins were able to survive thanks to solid goaltending from Halak and some puck luck as Stamkos and Gourde each rang posts. The Bruins began to take over play in the late stages of the period and had tremendous pressure but could not get the puck past Vasilevskiy and the period would come to an end with the Bruins out-shooting the Lightning 26-18 and the score tied 1-1

3rd Period - The Bruins and Lightning would go to the 3rd period tied at 1-1 with 20 minutes to decide a winner. The Bruins were controlling play in the early going as Tampa Bay was without a shot on net in the period through the first 6 minutes of action and the Bruins would take the lead when Patrice Bergeron put a long range wrist shot on net and the rebound would land on the stick of David Pastrnak who snapped the puck past Vasilevskiy to give Boston a 2-1 lead with 12:54 remaining. Tampa Bay started to find their legs as the clock ticked under 10:00 to play and the Lightning would get a big PP opportunity with 6:09 remaining as Coyle went off for holding. The Bruins PK unit did a good job and killed off the penalty to Coyle as Boston returned to even strength and we would move into the final 4:00 of regulation with Boston leading 2-1. The Bruins were packing it in defensively and making smart safe plays to bleed the clock down and the Lightning would get Vasilevskiy to the bench for the extra attacker with just under 1:00 to play. Tampa Bay was unable to generate a quality chance with the extra man and Marchand was able to poke the puck to Charlie McAvoy who skated across center ice and scored into the empty net to put the game away making it 3-1 with 0:35 to play. The Bruins would add another empty net goal from Karson Kuhlman in the closing seconds as they grind out a big 4-1 win over the previously undefeated Lightning

                              * The Bruins put together their best 60 minute effort of the season as they beat the high powered Lightning by a score of 4-1 at TD Garden

                              * The Lightning came in with a 6-0-0 record and suffer their first loss of the season to fall to 6-1-0 while the Bruins improve to 3-1-3 on the season

                              * Jarsolav Halak stopped 22 of 23 shots and has been excellent in both of his starts this season

                              * Boston got goals from Brett Ritchie, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy and Karson Kuhlman

                              * The Bruins will travel to Toronto for their next game to take on the Maple Leafs in the front end of a home and home series. This should be an intense home and home series as it will be the first meeting between the teams since Boston beat Toronto in game 7 last season
