I'm not around much because I've been busy but this Kobe news hit me damn hard. I wasn't a Lakers fan growing up but I've practically watched Kobe for as long as I can remember until the day he retired. This one freaking hurts man.

My first memories of basketball were watching this man terrorize teams with Shaq. Legit in tears right now.

Reportedly his family was not on board.

Edit: ABC is saying his daughters were on board. Not sure if it's false information but I hope they weren't... not exactly information to just gloss over...

I was about to go to the gym and I get this freaking Woj bomb on my phone. Can't even think about working out or anything now. Kobe was such a huge part of my teenage years. The only other celebrity death that hit me this hard was Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. I am shook.

I’m in complete shock at work right now. I wasn’t even like a huge Kobe fan. But I respect the hell out that man’s game and just out of love for another human being this **** is awful. RIP Mamba.

The CNN headline said 5 people dead. I didnt listen to anything since I caught the end of it, so I don't know who else was on.

This is insane. Out of any death you could've asked about a former NBA guy, Kobe is one of the ones I would've said would've been the biggest for me.

Giving me horrible flashbacks of when Roy Halladay died a few years back in a plane crash.

Been numb since I read the news.

Literally just watched him on Matt Barnes & Jack's Showtime show. He was into so many good things post-hoops and you could tell how much he loved his kids.

12:35 PM PT*--*Kobe's daughter Gianna Maria Onore -- aka GiGi -- was also on board the helicopter and died in the crash ... reps for Kobe tell TMZ Sports. She was 13.

We're told they were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the crash occurred. The Academy is in nearby Thousand Oaks.
