Interesting read about EA and FIFA

Someone on Reddit did some research and the post reveals some alarming points about how EA runs this business.

Re: Interesting read about EA and FIFA

Pretty much how I'd expect them to be run. EA is increasingly terrible at making great games their recent releases across all gaming genres show that. What they are good at is making money. Until lootboxes/packs go away or people wise up that spending extra on a digital card that becomes worthless upon the release of a new game FIFA is never going to improve to the heights it can really achieve without a random change of heart from EA. As long as the money is flowing it's going to be the same for years to come.

EA hasn't made a great sports title in years because they don't have to and what incentive do they have to make one. Konami isn't serious competition for FIFA though they are getting better. They have no rival for the NFL or NHL. The only really competition comes in the form of NBA games and the NBA live franchise has seen a game cancelled for the second time in less than 10 years because they have competition in 2K and EA doesn't know how to win on a level playing field. Exclusivity kills progress and innovation the only winners are EA and it's investors.
