No way to edit them man.

The feature only works in franchise mode. A 2 way player has to start out as a pitcher then you have to move him to a position where he must play at least 20 innings or more and get at least 3 at bats to be classified as 2 way player. Once this is achieved he will get a the 2 way icon in franchise mode.

Edit: right now you can take the Jake Cronenworth CAP for the Padres and edit him. He is listed a P with secondary positions of 2B/SS/3B.

after doing the above, can you have the player default to their secondary position in the lineup screen? i.e., can i make ruth my RF every day?

How does energy work. If I make a starter who will play 2nd/DH when he isn't pitching, would I need to rest him the day before a start, or are their pitcher and hitter energy levels different? THANKS!

How do I make the player, play a position? I look at my lineup and it doesnt let me change the defensive position.

            Re: Two Way Players

As I mentioned in another thread the biggest issue here is with Ohtani because he counts as a pitcher. for the 13 pitcher minimum so for the true angels rosters you can't have 8 men in the BP unless you want to use Ohtani as a starting pitcher.

What gets me though is in edit player there is a option to say Yes or No for two way player and it is grayed out. and Ohtani says 'no' for his. it's like they were going to put that option in editing for us but decided not to and forget to hide it out of the edit player options from us

You can only do it BEFORE the game on the lineup screen. not in roster managment

In the updated roster the rule is working as it should. Ohtani is a 2-way player and the angels have 14 pitchers on the mlb roster (including him) which means he's not counting against the cap of 13. If you remove the designation, it says there are too many pitchers on the roster.

Also, the two-way designation option is not grayed out while the designation is Yes. It appears you can only edit it from yes to no. Once it is no, it grays out.

What still sucks is there is no way to have him bat/play a position if you don't directly go into the lineup screen each game, which means he'll never hit in sims without intervention.

This is not working for me.

Can it be a SP, or does it have to be a RP?

Do they have to play a defensive position, or DH?

I have a rookie SP who has pitched 55 innings and played well over 20 innings at CF. Is it in spring training, or the regular season?

                    What am I missing?

                      1. SP or RP does not matter, just have to have 20 innings pitched
                      2. Position in field does not matter, DH is OK. However it is not 20 innings played in the field (or DH). It's starting 20 games with at least 3 ABs
                      3. I have not tested in the game, but in real life, Spring Training (or Minor League) games don't count. It must be regular season

ok i see so because I have started my franchise before a roster date I am suppose to reset it again to make it work ??

is he still stuck having him in the rotation? are your sure in franchise mode it doesn't whinge that it is 14 pitchers ?? because it probably only works in play now mode I bet

I checked it in a test franchise file, not play now, so we're good there. And, yes, he still has to be a pitcher as you can't change his primary position, so we're stuck with him not getting proper ABs without manually adding him each game (AI does use him, but the highest ABs I saw in a season sim was 240).

Unfortunately, if you're playing as LAA and care about the roster restrictions without the 2-way designation, then, yes, you'll have to restart or see if you can acquire the designation in your current season for that to be right.

if you are simming/not playing as LAA, the Ohtani situation is really not all that different from last year in The Show in terms of getting him ABs since, while the rule works, the issue remains that there is no way to put pitchers in other positions when managing rosters outside of a game.

ohh well seeing as I have to baby sit the angels anyway not worth restarting fo it

what I will do is send down the 5th starter in rotation down . after the 4th starter has pitched he will be sent down and the 5th starter will be sent up.

Meanwhile I will have to move Ohtani all around the rotation as so he never starts a game. can't move him to BP or CPU will use him, Utter pain but that is how it's going to be.. you would also think their be 6 man rotations by now too

Just to clarify DH doesn’t count as a position player ? So I have to have Ohtani play in the outfield for 20 innings to unlock the two way player option? (Even though he should have already had this built in) then the option is not greyed out it turns to yes ? And then he won’t count as a 14th pitcher ?

Do they have to. Be 20 games started at DH? Or does pinch hitting count ?

It’s way to confusing on what it should be

Ohtani has the 2 way icon on the roster it should have already been one when franchise started they screwed this up. He will never okey the outfield in real life
