With the start of the 2019-2020 season the Seattle Kraken has landed a pretty good team from the expansion draft. The biggest surprise is the CBJ not retaining Artemi Panarin. After putting up 87 Points the year before he will be leading the new team into the 2019 season.

NHL Draft Lottery Results

The Red Wings got lucky with their lottery draft. Moving up from 5th place to first place. The biggest surprise is Philadelphia grabbing the 3rd overall pick. Colorado who had the best overall odds to get the 1st overall pick dropped down to 4th and Seattle who had the 3rd best odds got the 5th overall pick.

On top of the draft board is the USA born Center Dane Love. A lot of people are saying that he could be the next face of Detroit. He plays a full ice game with great offensive skills and can skate at the NHL level already. I would not be surprised if he comes in and helps out day one. He would fit well on the 2nd line between Bertuzzi and Athanasiou.

Like everyone expected the Red Wings went with Dane Love as their first overall selection. He will be ready day one to play with the Red Wings. A lot of scouts are saying that he is the complete package and could possibly start in the center role for the 2nd line with the Red Wings.
