Discord: Any particular reason we suddenly have to put our phone number in?

Just noticed today that I can no longer post in there without putting in my phone number. Which one of you guys running the Madden modding discord are trying to steal identities?

That's... Not how it works and has nothing to do with our server. That's a discord thing if anything. No one else has had any problem similar to this at all.

Edit: To put it better, an admin in the server changed the verification level necessary to send messages.

As you can see, I didn't make it up. It's like that with every channel in the Madden Mod section (but not in any other discord server I'm part of). Perhaps someone accidentally did something to my account in hopes of banning someone else?

It's not just you; it's global. I joined as well, and I had to verify myself with my phone number.

Guys... This isn't that complicated.
More than likely, one of the admins changed verification/security settings for the server to make sure you have your phone number verified through discord before posting, and this is likely to avoid people joining just to spam racist things (which happened recently)/spamming things in general.
They aren't trying to steal your phone number lol

I never figured it was complicated. Figured it was exactly what you stated. It was pretty obvious that discord was looking for a certain verification level due to group settings, and not the community itself.

What do you mean group settings? Discord itself doesn't necessarily require phone numbers. Only individual servers do if the admin so choose to require it.

Let me re-phrase that for you.

The admin(s) of said server require verification by Discord, in order to use it. The admin(s) do not get that info. It is solely a service-run verification.
