How do you guys handle your young prospects?
I am going to jumping into MLB the Show for the first time since 09 on my PS3, I bought a used PS4 on ebay and want to start a franchise with Bacon's roster but I was looking and couldn't find a guide on how to handle young prospects and where to place then according to age, potential and overall. I want to build a great farm system but I wanted to know how you guys do it.After not posting here since I guess 2014, I found that my signature had an old slider set for FIFA 15... super awkward...Tags: None -

I use AAA for players I mostly dont care about.
AA or A is where I place my A or B rated prospects so they have the best chance of playing well against that competition. So in that way, the show is different from the actual game. The higher the success rate of the player in the minors, the faster his ratings will improve.
I also try to keep them there as long as I can. Based on the position depth at the major league level. I try not to bring the good prospects up to the majors until they're succeeding regularly in the minors.

My post at the end of this thread gives a basic blueprint of what's worked for me.Comment

I just found that video you referenced in that post. I don't really believe that because the AA ball player got moved up to AAA ball without him knowing skewing results. Also it didn't take into account if age plays any factor at what level they play as they all were 19 years old. After not posting here since I guess 2014, I found that my signature had an old slider set for FIFA 15... super awkward...Comment

Re: How do you guys handle your young prospects?
I chose my arbitrary age ranges per tier based on the games progression/regression algorithm. We know regression hits hard, way earlier than RL. If a 27/28 yr old is still at a low enough OVR to only really kill it in AA, he's likely never gonna make the bigs, so instead of wanting him to play daily, I'll choose to allow someone younger get the daily reps. In the grand scheme, age doesn't play a factor where they play. My view is strictly why take away playing time from someone younger if the veteran won't ever make the Show?I just found that video you referenced in that post. Edit: The takeaway from the video was mostly just don't rush your A/B potential guys and they'll develop quicker, slot 'em too high and they'll regress or progress slowly regardless of potential.Last edited by garry1221; 05-06-2020, 09:42 AM.Comment
