NHL 21 will be delayed this year to Q3. Meaning release date will be between Oct-Dec.

Guessing it's Covid related, or maybe the new consoles.

Usually Q3 is July-September so I'm not sure about this one. Q4 is normally Oct-Dec unless EA has their own custom definition of quarters which could totally be possible.

Edit: I think you're right based off when Madden normally releases. Wow, very interesting.

This is probably due to the fact that the season in the NHL, AHL, ECHL and CHL leagues will begin only in December. If all the Leagues start the season in October, it will be just fine, as the community will receive the actual team rosters and the latest hockey equipment, especially the goalies. Only HUT fanatics will remain dissatisfied.

He's talking about the fiscal year. For EA, that runs from April 1st to March 31st. So Q3 is indeed October through December.

Yes I'm aware, that's why I added my "edit" haha. Madden wouldn't release in a traditional "Q2" so clearly NHL is delayed according to the document.

My guess would be due to the next generation of consoles.

LOL oh yeah, and improved AI play, 31-team franchise control, GM Connected, custom slider lobbies, slider vaults...

LBH, they're just trying not to have NHL 15 happen again.

I'm going to try hard to skip 21. Transition games are never drastically new from their previous iteration and 21 will not be fully enhanced for the series X if I had to guess. It will be a port more or less.

I'd need roster sharing and 31-team control franchise mode at minimum to make the leap.

ya but thats not always on EA, the NHL wants a release every year. its how MLB the show has it as well, they have to release yearly based on contracts and stuff of that nature.

This is going to be a rough year for sport games mostly due to the pandemic and most likely EA still wanting to make money I believe all sport games this next season will basically be roster changes without much else.

Add on top of that new systems hard to predict but I think it will be another year on a new system before we really see a positive change especially NHL which clearly is behind the 4 major sports spending and popularity.

I think this is gonna hurt this year😩
