That is still the pinnacle of football games for me. That zoom in feature might as well have been some sort of future alien technology as far as I was concerned.

SEGA had so many legit sports games in the 1990s. Joe Montana football had a unique touch and I enjoyed playing it over XMAS break 1993. I liked the rosters and camera angles.

Another excellent SEGA sports game was World Series baseball. Prior to that was Sports Talk Baseball which was a well played cartridge on my Genesis.

I spent long consecutive hours on this game back in the day until my eyes were bloodshot from staring at the horrible resolution of my bedroom TV. Day after day, this game was all I needed to be happy.

I played 10 seasons of JM94. They added nice features for 95, but the graphics got worse. Best looking 16 bit football game.

I still remember winning a playoff game because I blocked a needless CPU FG attempt with no time left. The ball went a mile high and back 30 yards. Caught it on the run and took it back for a TD. Then went on to win the Super Bowl. One of my greatest video game football moments ever. I loved that game.

This game was so good back in the day. Silky smooth running with the ball. Loved it

Yeah, I had WS Baseball too. Great game but I was so mad it either did come out on Sega CD or was delayed so I got it for Genesis. Never finished my season though.

what i remember about this game is that it was hard. It used to frustrate me.

Yeah, it was a hard game from what I remember. I don’t think I knew you could spam the spin button. Won 3 Super Bowls in 10 seasons so it was a challenge.

Yeah, I used to play this all the time as a kid, pitch right and spin, spin, spin for 88 yards and a score.

One correction: the commentary was not Summerall, but actually by Lon Simmons, who was a San Francisco broadcaster who did the voice clips for many of the Sega Sports games of that era.

Shut up, really!? I seriously always thought it was Pat, it sounds so much like him. I'll fix it.

Great game. Too bad the next year they broke it.

                          yep - Loved that game

To this day, I still prefer generally simpler sports games control schemes that don't require hundreds of hours and a dozen button combo memorizations to enjoy and excel at.

Yeah I was very young so I don't remember why it went sour, I just remember the next year I was playing Madden 95 and not Joe Montana when my family brought home the new football game.

It sounded like Pat. I’m having flashbacks now. “He’s got daylight!”
