PGA TOUR 2K21 Career Mode Trailer

Looks like Career Mode info is coming...

https://www.facebook.com/PGATOUR2K/p...04256449745293

Also shows some MyPlayer stuff...looks like clubs from Callaway, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Ben Hogan, maybe Mizuno and Wilson Staff, too. Apparel from adidas, Royal & Awesome, Tattoo Golf...

Clubs have attributes (see at 31 seconds into the video)...

Korn Ferry Tour is included in some way, too. As are real tournaments, like the John Deere Classic, Tour Championship, Genesis Invitational, Valspar Championship, Waste Management Phoenix Open, etc.

2K Twitter has also confirmed that the mode is not scripted, a la MyPlayer mode in NBA 2K games: https://twitter.com/PGATOUR2K/status...94916704776192

Was just going to post this - looks promising.

Real clubs and more clothing options should add to the experience.

Re: PGA Tour 2K21 Career Mode Trailer

The one big thing that seems to be missing, which is an important factor for me for any golf game's career mode, is major championships. We know that The Masters is a pipe dream at this point, but there is no mention of The Open, US Open, or PGA Championship.

Playing in real PGA Tour events is fine, but taking part in the "2K Major Championship" or "HB Studios Open Championship" or whatever they are going to be called is lame, especially after being able to play in real majors in PGA Tour games going all the way back to Tiger Woods 10 when we could first play in the US Open.

I will never forget the punch-to-the-gut feeling of playing in the "Spring Invitational" at Wolf Creek in Nevada instead of The Masters in Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, after playing at Augusta in the previous three Tiger Woods games.

I thought the trailer confirmed my suspicion that the Career mode was going to be a series of head-to-head matches against featured pros until you faced Justin Thomas in the FedEx Cup Championship final. I posted that in the official forum and Shaun West came back and doused it by saying it's not a series of head-to-head matches. Still unclear as to what we do have because the announcers keep saying he's going to defeat so and so in this round... shouldn't you be worried about defeating the field in a medal play tournament?

Two things I noticed:

Club performance is now broken down into:

Distance
Shot Shaping
Forgiveness
Swing Plane
Distance Control

I notice the Callaway driver is high in "Distance" but low in "Shot Shaping", for example. This might blur the lines a bit, if it's implemented properly, between equipment types and brands. I don't think there's enough information exposed in this video to answer that question, but seeing the five attribute types gives me some hope for this.

When Matt Kucher hit his approach shot to a hole, the crowd was baying "Kooooooooch"... so nice touch there, but it was low hanging fruit they needed to grab.

I need to watch more and see how much more data I can pick up about these club attributes and the total point distribution available between brands/types.

I still feel like we are doing a lot of talking that is not about any changes to the swing or physics or loft grid...

I’m definitely wondering if I can “beat the Postman”...

We are, but they're going after the big headline items first... the one's that are going to have the most appeal to the Social Media demographic. I'm just picking up what I can from what I'm seeing here, but the questions about the swing, physics, loft grid, etc., will likely come last as an afterthought, and then probably not in enough detail to satisfy most of us here.

Fair enough

Unrelated..
I really think they should reconsider the marketing with the nicknames

I am eagerly awaiting gameplay info, too...but even this career mode trailer leaves so much to be desired in terms of info.

Like was mentioned earlier, it seems that there will be head-to-head battles with the pros at various tournaments, but then 2K says there won't be. So what's with all the "can you beat Mr. 58?" talk?

Lots of mixed messages and vague hints at stuff. Seems they are instead opting for the "swag" and "sizzle". I mean, what was up with the kangaroos in the video???
