The Chase...(Big collection for 7/28)
 

Alright guys yesterday on console we say a new message on the home page of The Show to start getting your collections ready for 7/28. If you recall last year we had a huge Honus Wagner collection that was pretty insane and the reward was that beastly Wagner 99 card with an incredible 5-tool arsenal.

First off, I have no clue who it will be this time around. Last year the Wagner came out of left field as nobody knew he was in the game. He already has a card in the game so does that mean he won't be this reward again? Would SDS double up on such a crazy reward? Possibly a new legend? Does the wording "the chase..." play into who the legend is? Either way, we'll find out on 7/28!

Last year when you did the math, you need about 75% of each card category to get Wagner. Let's break down what current programs we have and look at potentially what we might need.

All-Star : 38 cards available (75% = 29 cards)
Awards : 26 cards available (75% = 20 cards)
Breakout : 34 cards available (75% = 26 cards)
FOTF : 60 cards available (75% = 45 cards)
Future Stars : 43 cards available (75% = 33 cards)
Home Run Derby : 13 cards available (75% = 10 cards)
Players League : 7 cards available (75% = 6 cards)
Postseason : 22 cards available (75% = 17 cards)
Prime : 27 cards available (75% = 21 cards)
Prospect : 60 cards available (75% = 45 cards)
Rookie : 34 cards available (75% = 26 cards)
Signature : 15 cards available (75% = 12 cards)
Veteran : 33 cards available (75% = 25 cards)

Alright so that's the estimate based on last year. If that's what is required this year, how you guys looking who plan to try and tackle this collection!?

Alright so based on a 75% needed projection, I'd hit the mark on 8 of 13 collections already.

I'm probably going to buy a few cards today just to try and get that 75% mark just in case it's like last year.

I still need belli, degrom, and arenado. I'll be able to get degrom after I finish monthly program. Once I get the other two I think I'm just buying the cards I want from here on out lol.

Yea man I was in the same boat just a couple weeks ago. Good thing is Arenado, Degrom, and Belli came way down over the last several weeks. It's such a relief when you get them knocked out and don't have to pinch every stub. And don't forget you get quite a few stubs back when completing the collections.

I'm holding-firm on working the market for this big collection until I see who it is. If it's someone lame (like Jeter - though I doubt it would be), then I won't even bother.

I've got a ton of "content" to still work through right now (like player programs); I can bolster a ton of my collections just by working through those.

What will be interesting is if the FOTF guys are part of the collection - I'd LOVE to see that because IF that collection reward is really good, it could provide a lot of motivation to work through them.

Prestige: 10 (have to think this will be a requirement)
Veteran: 26
All Star: 27
Breakout: 30
Rookie: 26
Awards: 13
Signature: 8
Prime: 16
Players League: 8
Postseason: 16
Future Stars: 12
Prospects: 23 plus Franco if I lock them in, also have all 30 from TA, not sure if they will count
FotF: 34
HRD: 2
POTM: 4

It’s looking like I need to focus on signatures, future stars, and home run derby. At some point the HRD cards will be cheap when they start giving those packs away. What I’m hoping they do this year is instead of having one collection card, have multiple on the way to the big one, maybe give a card away every 3 sub collections you complete.

I don't think Prestiged cards should count at all. That locks a significant content behind online play - which is inappropriate IMO. This collection should be available for both online and offline users.

Now, if you set the number of Prestige cards to 5 (which I believe is the number of prestige cards you can get in the Prestige XP program - which is grindable offline), I can see that. It would be a heckuva grind, but I could see it....
