Re: NASCAR Heat 5 Patch and First DLC Arrives Tomorrow - Details Here

$12.99 for paint jobs for a trash game that isn't worth more than $20. Man, few developers rip off their customers more than 704.

And a patch? That's adorable. This game needs a damn overhaul, not a patch.

Until They implement some sort penalty system that demerits people who intentionally drive "dirty" I'm sort of done with NASCAR games. I've bought a few of them in the past and the experience is always ruined by clowns who deliberately smash into (for no strategic reason) you spinning you out. I think these games are fun when that doesn't happen....but that's the exception more than the rule. If you could block people from entering your lobby who how bad reputations then this game would be amazing. Until then, patch or patch, I'll just dust off old copies of the game and play against the CPU.

They really need to fix the damage model in this game/series.

Racing the truck series I spun in the corner on old tires went all the down and backed into the infield wall at a pretty good clip. No visual damage and once in the pits, my car is restored to 100%.

Really kills the realism and immersion of the game. Really no fear of hitting the wall since your talented pit crew to make your car/truck like new again!
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I 100% agree with this. That and the "paint booth" they have are just a complete joke.

I don't know where else to ask this, this is my first Nascar game ever so this could be a dumb question but is there no option to change left tires only? I'm playing career mode and constantly screw up in the pits. I only see right only and four tires options.

There is no option because it would make no sense to change left sides only as right side tires wear out much faster due to always turning left.

Except on road courses. Left tend to wear at an equal or greater rate than rights on road courses (for me at least) and this is where a "Change left-sides" option would be nice. What's weird is that for road courses where the pit is on the right, the animation will actually show them changing left sides if you select "2-tires", but if you look at the fuel/tire wear after the pits it will be the right sides that were changed. Been like this for years.

At this point in time with so many releases, it shows:

                    1) The developer doesn't care

                    2) And they are milking this series for all they got and this is all you will get with NH6, NH7 etc.

The developer makes NO apologies for using Unity. A bad sign they have decided to mail it in and milk the NH series is that now they'll let you buy the entire collection of rehased NH games. This tells me sales are way down and are poor and they are looking to find ways to make enough money to pay for the Nascar license.

I bought one of their games and purchased a Season update just to show support, thinking that it would send a message that hopefully they move from Unity to the Unreal Engine. Nope, they have NO intentions of ever doing that.

If they ever do then I will revisit Nascar Heat but until then I won't send them another dime.

I don't think you can say that definitively. There was an article here on OS (during the lead-up period to the NH5 release) that had quotes from a Developer interview, where they stated:

"For NASCAR Heat 5 we will be running on the same engine – Unity. This will change for future projects on the new generation of hardware. The name is also a discussion that is taking place internally at the moment."

Another excerpt from that same article included:

"NH5 will be built in Unity and development has been taken in-house at 704Games. It is too early to talk about the future beyond that, but we have exciting plans…"

So nothing concrete or specific yet, but at least this is from the horse's mouth.

That's good news if true but I never saw that info on Steam. If they do an overhaul with a new graphics engine then I will revisit the series.
