Could 2K have done more with what they had in current gen? Will 2K21 be the answer

Just want your feedback on this subject matter. Was there room for NBA2K to utilize in game assets even more than they did this gen?
From dribbling and other animations, to art assets, environments, and even features not working correctly (player mentorship, online myleague glitches etc) can 2K rectify this in NBA2K21 current gen to provide us with a positive cap off to this generation of 2K hoops?

Probably. But it's worth mentioning that they're on a one year development cycle and only so much can be done. With this year, it's not hard to imagine it was even tougher to deal with factoring the current situation and next gen looming.

Some might mention moving to a two year cycle and that just isn't going to happen. The series has grown so much, as long as the sales keep showing up at a rapid pace, there is little reason to change the strategy that much.

What I am expecting from 2K21 current gen is a more refined 2K20. Bug fixes and slight adjustments to the mechanics so that it plays more smoothly.

        Those environments look amazing.

If 2k advertised these type of diverse environment they would probably have more online users.

I didnt even bother exploring online content this year because I assumed it would be more so of the typical urban landscape.

Im actually going to go on line and explore a bit.

as far as features. if 2k is going to make playing defense a true manual process they should do the same with dribbling. just like having to press the lb/rb to take a step and square up the same should be used to dribble the ball. This probably might get tiring for the suer but it would bring some more balance between offense and defense within the game.

I understand 2K being on a one year cycle, but with all the money they make, couldn't they hire more staff?

The fact that there are the same issues in multiple games is unacceptable. Not to mention sometimes the new features they add simply don't work as advertised.

There's a tremendous amount of content in 2K don't get me wrong, but majority of it is underutilized, broken, or unappreciated tbh. From rosters and animations, to environments and game modes. Maybe there's too much?

Hopefully they get it together next gen.

Of course they could but with no competition, they will continue to half way do things. For example, in next gen, they literally gave access to add/remove headbands on one player, Chris Morris on the classic Jazz squad. They consistently do things with no rhyme or reason, as well as attempt marketing targets that never hit the mark.

Why add unworthy players with very little tenure to All Time squads? Players such as Zion, Ingram, Cousins, Randle & Kyrie were added to All Time teams as if fans would refuse to purchase if they weren't added. None of these ballers have played on those teams long enough to warrant their edition. 2K added D'Angelo and Kyrie to the All Time NETS instead adding the more than worthy and tenured Chris Morris. Players like Truck Robinson gets placed with the All Time Jazz with very few games in the uniform when he played 296 games in Phoenix averaging 17ppg 9reb.

The historical element to NBA basketball is misrepresented in so many aspects from players, tendencies, gear, etc. Even something as simple as shoes. Whomever is in charge of gear and shoes has no clue to what brings flavor and style to the league whatsoever.
