    Toggle for auto pull down.

    Hello all,

When holding R2 and your opponent is postured up as soon as your fighter can they will auto pull the DOM down. Defense on the ground is a mixture of R2, swaying and posting so it's fairly likely you'll be holding block when the auto pull down threshold is met. This takes away control from the player and often means you don't get to execute those interesting transitions from being SUB and having enough GA (using right stick and R1).

Personally I think this should be removed completely (you can still use R1 and up to pull down) but it would be nice to have an option to toggle it on/off.

I agree. Not quite sure how a game that many years ago had such a basic mma feature that a game for a current gen console doesn’t

I don't remember the mechanics of posture up in UD3....how'd it work again?

Let’s say you are in the opponents guard.. after a minor transition you free yourself up from their arm grip. Then if you hold the left stick (I believe) up you could throw strong strikes, if you let it go your fighter went back down and you could throw baby strikes/hammer fists/elbows. It was idea of mixing up throwing the smaller strikes and then holding the left stick up to posture and throw bombs That made the ground and pound satisfying

Anyone feel free to correct me. It’s been a minute since I played (night load it up this weekend actually). But if I misrepresented how it worked please correct me

Just look at how much better and more natural it flows, it even feels instatenously when playing it and every little movement you make with the right stick, results in a specific mini-live movement in the game. Compared to the canned EA SPORTS animations, where you input a command and most of the time, you see a full 3-4 second animation play out, while you are sitting there waiting for it to end, no control from your end:

              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gqgDiO4qLPs?start=183" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Shogun Rua, can use his left(movement) stick, to posture up temporarily, land a quick shot and naturaly let it go, in order for him to drop down. He can stay up there for as long as he likes and has full control over it, he can posture up straight, or posture up to the right side or the left side, each side changes the way your strikes come out, since your opponent on the bottom can also use the left stick for head movement and you can always press the L1 button, to perform more powerful strikes, like Hammer Fists or Elbows if you are Jon Jones or smth.

Also it's a big deal that UNDISPUTED 3 HAD Strike Fakes on the Bottom Game. They really went all out on that masterpiece of an MMA game. Your opponent could parry/catch your strikes on the bottom to pull you down, if they timed the grab in time and you could fake your strike, to cause them to grab thin air early, for your next strike to hit them while they are opned up from their failed parry/grab.

Simultaneusly, the guy on the bottom can transition to lock you into full guard, at which point your left stick, becomes a tool to drag your opponent and crawl on the canvas, till you get them near the cage or wherever u please. As a guy on the top, you can lock up to your opponent, by double underhooking them on the full guard, or triangle locking them on half guard, or hugging them in side control, till they cannot transition, but you better be active or else the ref is gonna get you up for stalling and hugging.

It's just so frustrating to see a game from 2012, that's better in every area except the striking. Must be incredibly frustrating for the EA devs as well.

I would pay full price for UD3 with a 2020 roster update in a heartbeat.

Why does this iteration of UFC games suck so much? I don’t get it.

It's pretty simple actually. EA realised a few years ago that people will buy their game anyway, as long as they get the licenses. They have zero incentive to put any effort in their games, it shows in every single one of their sports games.

It's a sad conclusion but the hay days of sports gaming are over.

I do hope that this greed is gonna bite them in the ***, but that won't happen anytime soon I'm affraid.

THQ knew to focus their efforts on nailing the ground and the clinch game. Only when they got that as comprehensive as it needed to be did they move onto the standing game would be my speculation.
If I were making an MMA game that’s exactly what I would do. If you ran short on budget you could more easily improve the stand up game later as the grappling portion would be much more complex.
