So... is it worth buying now?
Now that it’s been a few months and we’ve had some patches, is Madden 21 worthy of a purchase on current gen? How does it measure up to 20? I haven’t bothered buying it after seeing the awful reviews. I’m not expecting much even after the patches. Just as long as it’s somewhat playable especially for franchise. It’s a sad fact that my expectations are so low.Last edited by DJG; 11-20-2020, 01:18 AM.Tags: None -
Re: So... is it worth buying now?
This game got review-bombed hard, I still don’t quite understand what happened. I think most guys here think the game is pretty ok. Nothing amazing but about what you’d expect. Competent(ish).Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this. -

Curious about this too, because it’s 40% off on the Xbox Black Friday sale.Comment

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
It's very similar in my opinion, but I'd really encourage everyone in here to use the free 10 hour trial through EA Play and make their own decision based off of that. It depends on what you value and what you're looking for. I played about 600 hours of M19 and M20 so M21 was a bit too similar for me to get invested in. I'm hoping next gen upgrade gives it enough of a boost for me to get into it again cuz i love football but so far it hasn't hooked me. Others love it. Others totally hate it. It's not revolutionary by any means but it is a progression over M20.Comment

There's still a glitch where you can't name your owner or even select a current owner to use, but you still get to run a franchise either way (just nameless - it honestly hasn't bothered me). As far as gameplay, it's where you can have fun with it, now. Sliders and such are leveling out, but with two more franchise patches coming, that is probably going to change at least once more probably. If I had to pick any one thing that is still a little annoying, it's that I haven't figured out ratings and traits settings to prevent every WR from wanting to jump to catch almost every pass to them.(...brought to you by Carl's Jr.)Comment

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
I’d say if you have low expectations like I did, $35 for it is okay.
Anything under $30 I’d say is worth it. Over $35?
Nah. Spend your money elsewhere.Comment

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
GameStop has it for $26 right now through Black Friday. Still not a must have for me even tho I love football but it’s hard to beat an upgrade to ps5 at that price

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
I picked it up for $35 off the PS store. I had been playing a modded 20 on PC and enjoying it, but couldn’t pass up the option for a free upgrade to the PS5 version.
I am loving this game in default AM (except with CPU Int down to 10 cause they have hands stickier than my all pro WR)
I would definitely recommend the upgrade to 21 at a discounted price if you’ve been playing 20. You can actually throw out of a sack and can maneuver as a ball carrier.

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
'21 is the same game as '20 but with a few tweaks here and there just like comparing '20 to '19 and so on down the line.
Little different scenario in play this year with the PS5 upgrade. If that is the route you're taking, then grab one of the $26 specials, if not, don't waste your money.Comment

Re: So... is it worth buying now?
I waited myself until the game was on sale, and am having a blast. Part of that is that someone on Xbox made a full 2007-2008 roster and there are draft classes available through 2018. Bringing the nostalgia of playing with a lot of these players is great, even if the commentators don't say their names. The biggest gameplay difference I noticed was that the AI will audible on offense way more this game then it did in Madden 20. I've also noticed the AI running the ball less late in the game when they're down in points which is a plus.Comment
