NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Hey guys I'm finally back after taking last year off and I'm eager to get things up and going. I'll use the same basic way of posting things like I did in my previous two franchise I posted on here which can be found on my sig if you need a quick refresher. My PS5 is suppose to be delivered today to my friends house a few hours away.

What
As the headline suggests pretty straight forward I will be doing 3 year rebuilds. Every team will have different goals so not every team’s goal will be to win a championship by year 3.

Length
Instead of doing one team for many years I will do different teams and cut it off after 3 years. I may also sim additional few seasons at one time with everything being CPU generated. It would be a quick recap as a bonus and wrapping things up in 1 post for years 4/5. I may also experiment once with taking over a new team starting in year 4.

Why
This will allow me to control a bunch of different teams and not just be stuck to 1 team. The thought process is the length will keep things fresh both for me and the people casually following along.

Type of Teams
I don’t just want to do the easy rebuilds like Thunder, Pelicans and Mavs. I want to do some middle of the road teams like the Pacers or Wizards. I know people like to avoid the quality teams in these kind of things. I also want to try out a team where the pressure is on to win a title right away. I want to pick teams that will have some choices to make. So the Jazz I might skip because they have their 2 stars locked up. Where Denver has enough pieces to make a big trade. In general If I take a bad team I may tank for 1 year just not 2.

Remaster
While this is going to be realistic I want to have some fun with it and try out some classic players / teams. I’ve never got around to really doing anything with historic teams despite me growing up as a kid in the 90’s. If I can find a good historic roster I’ll use some retro teams.

Another thing I’m really excited about is using historic draft classes. So I may load up the Charles Barkley draft class or something and see how he would do in the NBA today. I’ll still use the upcoming draft class some as well. I think this will be more fun then seeing Cade Cunningham go 1st every time after year 1. I think from the people reading it your be more attatched to a NBA player from yesteryear then some 18 year old you don’t know.

30 Team Control
I will run every team just like I would if they were the team I’m controlling. This includes signing players, free agency, drafting, setting lineups adjusting tendencies and all that. I’ll have 5 categories for every team

Championship Expectations
Playoff lock
Fringe playoff / lower seed
Trying to win / Young & Improving
Tanking

Report Card
I will have goals laid out in advance for every year so at the end of the 3 years I’ll look back and can give a grade based off what happened. This will be done off a 10 point scale with each year having main goals and roster goals. They will also be 1 time goal for the payroll side of things. I'll post a example of one below if I was picking the Knicks.

Main Goal

Year 1
Land a top 4 draft pick (+2 points)
Bonus – Land a top 2 draft pick (+1 point)

Year 2
Win 40 games (+2 points)
Bonus – Make the playoffs (+1 point)

Year 3
Make the 2nd round of the playoffs (+2 points)
Bonus – Make the ECF (+1 point)

Roster Goals
Year 1 – Draft player X at all cost (+1 point)
Year 2 – Acquire a player 83 overall under 30 (+1 point)
Year 3 – TBA (+1 point)

Salary Cap Goals
Can’t pay the luxury tax until the playoffs are made (+1 point)

Team Reveal & Overall Preview

The Memphis Grizzles will be the team under the spotlight for the next 3 years. They surprised everyone this past year holding the 8th seed until losing out to Portland in the play in game. They are a team that some are projecting to make the playoffs, but the majority predicts them to narrowly miss out. The West is loaded this year with everyone expect the Thunder trying to win.

The roster is headlined by 2nd year PG Ja Morant who will be the leader of the team going forward. He is your reigning rookie of the year and was in all star consideration last year. They also have a nice trio of big man with veteran Jonas Valanciuas and youngsters Jaren Jackson Jr and Brandon Clark.

The question marks for this team come from the wing position they are some options with the likes of Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen, Kyle Anderson, Desmond Bane, De’anthony Melton and Justice Winslow. However none of these guys project to be more then role players going forward.

We are excited to see how the future will unfold and how the roster will shape up around Ja. The team has all of its 1st round draft picks, cap space and moveable contracts. Its not going to be playoff or bust next year, but ownership isn't tanking and wants to see some wins.

Rosters ATD Opening night (as seen on here)

Sliders Schanidt1 with tweaks to fit my skills (as seen on here)

My Share Scneraio DefloDD

How I play I supersim the games and jump in around the 3rd/4th quarter if its close. I will also play about 1-2 full length games and have a deeper posting of those. My skill level isn't that great so you won't see me winning every game I play.

Posting StyleI'll keep the same format as my previous franchise reports which is built around pics and shorter articles. I won't have recaps of every game i'll come up with some kind of summary maybe monthly.

Injuries Since its opening night rosters anything that got hurt in the preseason will be out if they got hurt in the regular season they will be healthy. So they have JJJ out for about 2 months and Winslow a few weeks.

In House Rules
Can only trade one first round pick from a draft that wont be made
Can't sign anyone over 85 overall unless special circumstances
Can't do a 4th year unless gets a perfect 10/10 score

I think that about covers all of the settings and stuff so next up starting tomorrow will be positional previews

G Preview

Ja is the best player on the team and could be a all star this year. He does need to work on his perimeter defense. His ability to drive and finish at the rim mixed with his athleticism and play making is why he should score 20 points per game. Once he gets his shooting up to the B to B+ range he will be one of the biggest offensive threats in the league.

De'anthony Melton is the best perimeter defender on the team and will start at SG on opening night. The plan going forward is to move him to the backup 1. He does have some playmaking skills, but isn't going to add much on offense.

Tyus Jones has turned into a solid backup PG that is respectable in all areas. They are some reports he could be traded at some point if Melton plays well. He is under contract for a reasonable salary next year.

Grayson Allen is a big name and one of the leagues most hated players. This is likely a make or break year for him as he will get a chance to play. He is suppose to be a 3 point specialist and shoot 40% last year, but in just 38 games. He is under contract for 4 million next year. If he can shoot near 40% on more attempts that will be enough as a bench player.

Desmond Bane is a rookie and one that should be able to shoot right away at the next level. He isnt going to be a factor on defense, but if he can score that will be enough to earn him minutes this year.

Sorry for the delay i got sick earlier in the week so I’ve been laying in bed. Hopefully this passes and I’ll be able to go back to things in a few days.

Wing Preview

This is the weakest group on the team by a wide margin and going into next year will likely look a lot different. They are some solid players here, but not a lot of depth.

Dillon Brooks is the best player here and scored 16.2 points per game last year on 36% from 3. He is locked into a reasonable contract moving forward at around 12 million per year. The front office see's him more as a bench player then the starting 3. He isn't a good enough defender to call him a 3&D guy. He isn't afraid to shoot and will shoot at the drop of the hat.

Memphis gave up a lot for Justice Winslow with dead salary it took on. The problem is that a year later he is still out with a hip injury and won't be ready to play for the first few weeks of the season. He has a 13 million dollar team option at the end of the year and its possible the new front office just cuts its losses and moves on from him. He really just needs to get back playing and see what he can do. His all around playing making defense mindset is always needed.

Kyle Anderson aka slow mo is another solid vet thats under contract for 2 more seasons. He is a versatile defender and can guard post and perimeter at a respectable rate. His 3 point shooting has improved, but still isn't a plus. He will start out as the starting 4 on the team with JJJ injured. I don't see him being traded at the deadline.

John Konchar is locked up with a new contract and he might not join the rotation right away. He grades out as a 3 point specialist and you can never have enough of those guys.

Big Preview

This was suppose to be a position of strength with 3 quality proven players getting 30ish minutes a game. The major factor is Jaren Jackson Jr. is still recovering from a ACL injury and will miss around the first 2 months of the year. Two other young players are also recovering from injury Jontay Porter and Killian Tillie and won't be ready at the start of the year. JJJ is really needed on this team he needs to be the #2 scorer and without him its hard to see Memphis having enough horses in the West to make the playoffs.

Jonas Valanciunas is a solid starting old school type Center that can also shoot it a little bit. With the price of big's going up his 15 million this year and 14 million next year comes in a little under market. He isn't a elite rim protector, but he can rebound and score. His rebounding help makes up for the fact that JJJ struggles in that area.

Brandon Clarke is coming off a fantastic rookie year and is looking like he will be one of the steals of the draft. He averaged 12.5 points and that number should go up this year with his ability to score inside and from 3. He isnt a defender, but the front office likes his scoring coming off the bench.

Gorgui Deing was brought over during the Winslow deal and will be the backup 5. He can shoot and help do the dirty work a little. His veteran presence is nice to have on a team full of young guys. He is a expiring contract at 17 million so if Memphis decides to bring in some long term $ then he would most likely be heading to another team.

Xaiver Tillman was a early 2nd round pick and isn't expected to join the rotation right away as he doesn't really have a NBA skill. We talked about Kyle Anderson in the wing preview he will also get a lot of time at the 4.

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

2020 Opening Night

Memphis cut the lead to 7 with 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Ja got Murray his 5th foul with 6:38 to go and the lead was down to 4. Just one minute later Murray would foul out of the game. Grayson Allen hit a open corner 3 and the lead was at 6 with just over 2 minutes remaining. MPJ's dunk would seal the win for Denver.

Memphis played better then they had in preseason so that's a plus. Ja was incredible with 36 points and 12 assist on just 3 turnovers. Brandon Clarke was also big off the bench with 24 and 13 and going 4/6 from deep. Grayson Allen hitting four 3's off the bench was nice to see. Dillon Brooks didn't shoot that well going 4 of 14. Despite not adding anything on offense the higher ups were "pleased with Melton's play and the job he did guarding Murray".
