    Stupid franchise salary issues

I'm the Cowboys and keep getting told I'm above my cap by 2 million and can't aquire anyone from free agency. I have tried and did trade Dak to get some money but the trouble arose again. When I try to trade someone to get more money I'm then told it will put me below the minimum roster limit. The only way I can play the next week is to do it automatically and not manually. I just can't find a way to get more cap space right now. Ugh. Please help me understand the inner workings of the salary cap issues in franchise... Thank you. I'm pretty much stuck thru the 2021 season with no money and it's just preseason. Grr..

Can't you just go to commissioner tab and clear your cap penalties and that is probably your issue.

You can just turn off salary cap

Lol🤣. You're kidding? OK. I'm an idiot. Thank you. I'll hunt it down. I don't want to turn it off but clearing it out seems perfect.

It took me a while to figure that out, too.

I've had the same thing happen in my Eagles franchise.

I've just decided I'll suffer one year without any cap room and treat it as a rebuilding year. I tried trading Wentz and Ertz to get under the cap but it didn't help.

Madden really needs to add the ability to re-structure contracts. That's how teams get under the cap in real life when they have issues.

              THIS!!!

I really hope this is part of this supposed Madden 22 focus on franchise mode. This is a staple of NFL business

It's one of the biggest needs in the mode. They have cap penalties, but they don't give us the tools to structure contracts with dummy years, post June 1 cuts, choosing when the guaranteed portion of the contract ends, etc... It's really frustrating. We have to self-police just to get a hint of realism in the mode. The salary cap is the great equalizer in the NFL. But in Madden it's just not even close to being realistic. Every contract is on the same escalating progression through the first 4-5 years too. That's not how real contracts work at all.

I get that some people don't care about that kind of detail, but for the sake of realism they should just add a toggle - simple cap (what they currently have in the game) and realistic cap. That way people can choose what they want and people that want it to be realistic can finally have the option and everyone else can keep the overly simplistic system they currently have in the game.

if coordinators are not in the game yet imagine how long can take to put a realistic salary cap system and add ai logic to this system forget about EA already prove this year that they don't care about simulation anymore. just hope there some other title alternative in few yearss

                      Re: Stupid franchise salary issues

I run a semi-32 team control offline franchise. By semi, I mean I take control of all teams at certain points (Draft, Coaching Changes, etc). At each of those, I will clear cap penalties before letting control of the team go back to the CPU. Helps with salary cap management IMO.
