Your Favorite Martin Scorsese Film?
Well, this is the moment we all have been waiting for (ok, I have been waiting for ): my favorite director, Martin Scorsese.
I'm focusing on Scorsese's 25 narrative feature films that he has directed (this would exclude his documentaries or shorts). |
Re: Your Favorite Martin Scorsese Film?
I would personally rank them:
Leo's performance in Wolf of Wall Street is one of his best and I think he should have won the Oscar for it. As time passes the more Nicholson's performance bothers me (too cartoonish) and how it would be better with De Niro in the role (but he was filming The Good Shepherd). Always had a hard time rewatching Taxi Driver, very unsettling. I went to see Hugo at the theaters when it came out in 2011, but 10 minutes in the electricity at the mall went out so they gave everyone an open-ended ticket for 1 movie. For whatever reason I didn't use the rain-check on Hugo and never saw it till this year. I used Scorsese's ten most voted films in IMDb's, so take it up with them. Previous threads: |

Nicholson in The Departed? I thought he was great in that but I like Nicholson so I might be a little biased.
Gun to my head I would pick Goodfellas but I could name half dozen on that list just as easily as number 1. Taxi Driver great but once was enough for me. |
Re: Your Favorite Martin Scorsese Film?
Oh, I like Nicholson too, but sometimes he takes over and it becomes a variation on "Nicholson being Nicholson" or at least what the perception of Nicholson is (I also accept that others may prefer when an actor does a riff on previous performances/public persona, not saying this is your case!).

My favorite has to be The Great Gatsby starring Vinny Chase.
