What happened to realistic CPU vs. CPU?

I'm having the same problems with this year's iteration as last year's, I can't find a slider set where the CPU teams aren't scoring 140-160 a game and superstar players are averaging around 40 points a game and it's frustrating. I keep trying slider sets after slider sets and no matter what I try, I still see first quarter scores in the high 30s. Teams don't score 40 points a quarter, when did this become a thing? Other than this year and last year, the last NBA 2k game I've put a lot of time into is 2k18, and while it's not the most popular of the bunch, I could still get a pretty accurate sim experience, with teams routinely hovering around 100 points a game.

I guess my question is: is there not a CPU vs CPU slider set out there where teams aren't scoring 140-160 a game and stars aren't routinely averaging 40-point games? Where did this bloated scoring come from? How do I fix this?

I have not seen this problem. Is your shot clock set at 20 instead of 24?

2018 sure was the last one with legit cpu vs cpu gameplay. Since then, every game you do cpu vs cpu is a complete blowout

These still work from Sim World - All the problems that others are seeing - I am not:

I've seen you post these quite a bit. I tried them out but they didn't really work for me. Do you do the Coaching Changes too? Because whenever i put them they dont really show up in the acutal game (the off-ball D, pick n roll stuff).

Would be great if you had some information on this or maybe even post some stats from your games

I’m having the same problem. The bloated final scores can be fixed by slowing down gameplay or decreasing the quarter length. But the main problem is shot distribution. Superstars end up taking like 40 shots a game whereas all the role players will take like 5. I’ve tinkered with a lot of sliders and haven’t figured it out yet. Annoying.

I think some of the issues originate from the individual players tendency sliders. For example, nba 2k had luka doncic like a 99 spot up 3 point shot tendency. They also had him like a 30 on “pass to open teammate” and a 20 on “step back 3 pointer”. Just not accurate for how he plays the game. He doesn’t shoot off a lot of picks, he shoots a lot of step backs, and he pass like crazy. Fixing those sliders helped some.

This is often the problem. The default rosters have some bad tendencies that sliders cannot fully fix. good behaviors often require roster edits.

The problem since NBA2k18 is that they allow those easy buckets under the hoop, backdoor cuts??? Messes up the whole viewing experience with that garbage. Because the game will let the same thing happen over and over even with adaptive defense only on. And add on that 3rd quarter surge from one team and not the other, usually always a blowout. I always like I should reinstall 2k18 when classic bulls team actually won. Now if you do classic team myleague, the classic bulls get beat to often.

I recently went back to All-Star with a roster combination of real2kinsider and ATD with my own personal changes included and I've been getting some great CPU-CPU games without the dreaded 3rd qrtr blow-outs. I've also played seasons on Superstar where that 3rd qrtr scoring discrepancy was more rampant. I also adjusted the sliders to closer to Superstar but start myleague on All Star. It was not an easy undertaking but I have the game playing as close to real life as you can get. I don't even know if I'm getting 2K24 now...

If you're using the default roster, Popboy's sliders might work for you.
