Re: patch or spoilers?
I wouldn't go out of my way to do patch spoilers after the last time either.
We should start preparing ourselves that this won't be a fight week ritual much longer and that's it never a guarantee anyway.

Re: patch or spoilers?
Why wouldn't you do patch spoilers? Because there was criticism? Getting criticized, fair or not, is a part of the job.Comment

Re: I patch or spoilers?
Community's fed up with the game and the devs are fed up with the community. Wouldn't be surprised if UFC 5 is filled with even more garbage cosmetics just out of spite.
Oh, well. Hope that esports boxing game's good.Comment

Re: patch or spoilers?
Getting criticized for comments made when the process of commenting isn't in your job description is quite literally not part of the job.
To my knowledge, patch spoilers are a luxury. They aren't anyone's job to do them.

Yeah bro patch spoilers are a luxury lol.
Why you getting upset on their behalf tho? Why would anyone cheerlead losing patch spoilers.Comment

Re: patch or spoilers?
Because I've also worked jobs where I went above and beyond what my job actually called for, for so long, that the people I was doing nice things for went from being thankful to entitled.
It's annoying. If it was actually somebody's job at EA or you were making the case that it should be, this would be a different argument. But it's not.
Skynet is a dev, not a community manager.

Re: patch or spoilers?
So you want to drop patch spoilers for the entire community over some mean comments from a portion of the community?Because I've also worked jobs where I went above and beyond what my job actually called for, for so long, that the people I was doing nice things for went from being thankful to entitled.

Doesnt seem emotional.Comment

Re: patch or spoilers?
Where? Where did I say that? Why do you think I'm emotional about this? It's a video game. It's something I play to unwind after work.
My point is, I don't blame someone for not going out of their way to do something that isn't their job, especially when the last time they did so ended poorly.
That's it. That's the whole point.
You want patch spoilers. I want patch spoilers. Who wouldn't want patch spoilers? But currently, it's nobody's job to give them to us. It isn't part of anything I've purchased and nobody is getting paid to do them, thus I treat them as the nice thing they are, not an expectation.

You cant exclude those with mean comments, it's not practical- it's all or nothing. You were literally cheerleading them to not give patch spoilers anymore.Comment

Re: patch or spoilers?
Well let me back up then.
I would have never done them in the first place. I dont work off the clock. I hang with my family.
Maybe that'll put it in perspective. If that's cheerleading no spoilers then that's a pretty negative spin on what I'm saying.
I applaud them for doing it, hope they continue and wish this community would acknowledge that it's exactly how I outlined above. A choice that the folks who have done them to work outside their requirements and on their own personal time, and not as you said, part of the job.

Re: patch or spoilers?
100%. I wouldnt either if I was a dev. ****, I wouldnt interact with the community at all if I was a dev. There isnt much of an upside to it. You can lurk and get most if not all the input you need from the community.Well let me back up then.

This is a post where I'm actually defending EA. Patch spoilers served two purposes: A reward to the community so they could know what was coming and to create excitement within the community for the patch.
There is not a single video game dev team that does patch spoilers. I know...I play damn near all of them.
The Show...NBA2k...Fifa....Madden....none of those guys drop spoilers. The patch just drops and half the time you dont even know when it is dropping.
It was only a matter of time before the community ran the devs off. Tap or Snap is still here and I hope Skynet continues to post but its an eventuality. The Madden forum had a few devs. Same with the Show. ****, NBA 2k had a few devs that started at OS....eventually they all stopped posting because people realize that its not really worth the hassle.Comment

That's nice. But why would they care about mean comments. GPD was way more viscous with the community than TOS or Skynet ever were. I honestly don't get why they got **** from Pryoxis, hes been around when GPD was here, what skynet and TOS did were tame and acceptable compared to him.100%. What I dont get is if ppl bother them, continue to ban them, discord has so many banned and muted people, this place used to be very ban happy. Sure it's a never ending game but that's the cost of building rapport with the community, by shutting out the unwarranted and taking in constructive criticism.
Idk if the desire to stop interacting with the communities comes from vids like Pryoxis did, or just the general annoying people or both.Comment

I honestly dont know why "building a rapport with the community" matters. You guys arent buying the game because Skynet or GPD were good dudes. You buy it because you are huge MMA fans who desperately need an MMA game and EA is the only company able to give you one with the UFC license.
Its obvious, right? The dev team has hundreds of people on it and 2 interact with the community. I have no idea if Skynet is just taking a break or never wants to come back or is on vacation and didnt have the time to do patch spoilers. But the guy isnt a community manager. He's a dev. His job responsibilities have nothing to do with engaging the community.
With that said, I still havent heard you or anyone explain why it benefits them to take abuse from strangers when they can get the same input without actually engaging people?Comment
