I was holding out hope when people on the internet shared the ESPN logo on the scoreboard banner that finally we would get broadcast integration including a pre-game show, decent halftime presentation along with post game recap and sideline reporters. EA is way behind considering this has been a staple with the other companies for many years now. Last year's mantra was #fixthefranchise, well I feel the mantra this year already should be #fixthepresentation.

No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
Heard Madden's Lead Developer confirm that Madden 22 was not going to have ESPN (or any major broadcast network) integrating its broadcast presentation into the game. Really??? It's 2021 and EA is so far behind the 2K's and San Diego studies with presentation, in spite of the fact their budget and development staff probably dwarfs those companies.

Mind-boggling that EA has had the ESPN license for years and they've done next to nothing with it.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003
New York Giants- 1927, 1934, 1938, 1956, 1986, 1990, 2007.

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
I will say this. I agree that it would be nice to have some sort of branding and that kinda stuff. But let's not forget both 2k and MLB The Show have their own "networks" when it comes to broadcast presentations.
Sure The Show has the MLB Network license but IMO you see the generic one waaaaay more and that does a great job of relaying information to the user in a broadcast fashion.
Point being that these games really don't NEED the ESPN, CBS, TNT stuff when they can use their own in house "networks". They just have to use them well and make them reflect a TV broadcast. Which, in my opinion has been EA's weakness.

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
Real life broadcast partners have been disappearing from all EA sports games for a couple of years. NHL and madden both have their own broadcast package. UFC doesn’t have ESPN integration either despite all pay per views and free fights being exclusive to ESPN.Heard Madden's Lead Developer confirm that Madden 22 was not going to have ESPN (or any major broadcast network) integrating its broadcast presentation into the game. The EA name sells itself. Why spend money on broadcast licenses when it won’t sale any additional copies of the game?Comment

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
Ummm... I've seen some dope fake tweets scroll across the bottom of the screen from Louis Riddick, so I'm not sure what you're talking about here...
For real though it doesn't make sense. Especially when everyone in the world knows that the football videogame that isn't allowed to be named included the most integrated ESPN presentation ever and it was awesome. Why spend money on something you're not going to use? Kiper and McShay should be breaking down the draft, or the mock drafts that are introduced this year should be branded as Kiper's Mock 1.0, etc. So many missed opportunities that wouldn't even take a ton of work.Comment

No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
I would love real world broadcast integration….but if Madden just did better with their own brand of presentation it would be a non issue.
I think what could use a true world integration is use of the NFL Network license which they have for pre game, halftime and a well executed weekly wrap up show or even a Good Morning Football weekly show.
Also integrate NFLN into their draft presentation.
It would go a long way into immersion.
I am hoping as we move forward on the new consoles we will see it.
This was a big year for Franchise mode and they have added a lot. So let’s keep giving them good feedback.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 08-05-2021, 02:25 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

This would be ideal. Because there's no point in having the branding for presentation if the presentation itself is still not good IMO. It's a waste just to say "hey guys we got ESPN stuff y'all happy now right"?I would love real world broadcast integration….but if Madden just did better with their own brand of presentation it would be a non issue.

Would love some NFL Network integration with the draft. That I feel would make the draft feel like the big deal it is IRL. Even if it's just something small like audio excerpts of someone giving their thoughts on a drafted player. Create lore for these fictional players. Game gives us some already with the draft stories but make them more pronounced. That would make me personally want to use the auto generated classes more.

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
I would love to see real broadcasts like CBS, ESPN and such but really I just wish Madden would revamp their presentation in general. It's nothing like what you see on TV, at least in Madden 16 they had a style that was similar to CBS. Now it's more comparable to the Nickelodeon broadcast the NFL had earlier this year.Comment

I don't see the big deal... even when we did have real life broadcasters, we hated them (Chris Collingsworth)
Me, personally, this is small potatoes, but if this is a hill you want to die on, go for it,Comment

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
I actually prefer NOT using real network assets for games. You have WAY more flexibility with the types of information/screen swipes you can provide without being beholden to how a network presents things. MLBTS is a clear example of this IMO, where the MLBTS presentation graphics are FAR superior to the MLB Network presentation because they convey WAY more information on screen. Recorded video game commentary will never be as good as commentary for real games (which is totally understandable), so use of the added screen swipe information designed specifically for the video game helps to augment it.
It's also WAY more immersive, driving home the fact that this is your own universe, not some clone of real life. The use of EA assets for presentation is that critical piece we need.
Now, I wasn't a huge fan of Madden 21's intros (a hair over the top); but I definitely liked a lot of what I saw in this year's beta.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
The commentators they have had the last few years are being used because they have a contract with EA and the game, so they can basically use them whenever needed for updates etc..
But I did watch a video the other day (might of been eric wayweather) and he mentioned that what EA should do is hire more announcers for different games maybe so we aren't hearing the same ones over and overComment

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
As opposed to a copy of a real life one, I would like to see something similar to what thet did in MLB a few years back. Give us the same announcers but a few different presentation styles. Yes the show removed one, but if they create their own, they can be more creative than locking in on what Fox or CBS or someone else does.Funkycorm

Re: No ESPN (or Any National Broadcast Affiliation) in Madden 22
The problem has always been EA trying to be “ innovative” and go “beyond the broadcast” or whatever they called it. I remember them saying they wanted to do things that hopefully the NFL would start doing. Unfortunately, it was so poorly executed and cringe worthy. The wipes last year had dumb sayings. The intros made absolute no sense. I mean leap frogs with players or even worse highlights from a game that hasn’t even played yet.
Even the post play replays have been hit or miss. Last year with the next gen stats they would zoom down the line starting with a zoom in on the football. Or on a pass play they would show angles that were so zoomed in you couldn’t see anything develop.Comment

Exactly. Imagine if they spent their time adding the rack focus angles that we saw the NFL start doing last season (and every other sporting event has copied since) into the game this year rather than this unrealistic stuff.
